Waiters gonna wait.

Tired of waiting for the right game? Try this, our new action-laden dish-collecting game! You are the waiter in a renowned restaurant, and you want to keept everything nice and clean. Easy task, huh?

The evening starts off nice and calm, the piano is playing softly, the sound of gentle conversation floods the air, and the food, the food, oh, it tastes so good! Who could resist paying a visit? Well, turns out, nobody could. And that is a problem. EVERYBODY COMES ALL AT ONCE! And then, hell breaks loose. You will have to satisfy your customers, get screamed at by your nasty restaurant manager, all while balancing an astonishingly high pillar of dirty dishes through the whole restaurant, at speeds never deemed possible by humankind! Move with WASD, balance your dishes with left/right arrow, Pick up dishes/drop them at the kitchen with arrow up, and have lots of fun. And don't upset your manager, i told you.

Music composed by Hong Linh Thai and koucha123.

I like balancing plates, it's a really engaging mechanic. And yes, it becomes harder just with the right scale.

But why one man uses 3 plates for MntDew and burgers? It will be good to stick to the "one man one plate" concept to strategically plan your route.

Good luck!

Great game! Not too hard in the beginning, but scales up quickly. The Art is simple but clear. Also exploding head!

@MoseGames: It's the manager's tie! He is a little explosive-tempered sometimes, and when he is in a really bad mood, he acts self-destructive.

It's so cool! A simple mechanics that challenges a player - if it isn't the essence of games then what is? Also, I love this music and stickmen!

Really nice game! The only thing is that one have to run out of the screen if i pick up tables close to the sides and they tip to the wrong side.

@Mads: Thank you :) Yea, this is a little bit tricky. The game would maybe profit from a big screen and some empty space at the sides, so you can see what ist happening there.

Really well done. :) I like the idea of a simple but challenging mechanics put together in a funny humorous well polished setting. Keep up the great work!

Too bad that I am not good at balancing dishes. :/

Really cool idea and well polished.
A cool addon would be a small bubble showing you the state of your character when you run out of the screen, so that you can use that space effectively.
But really good entry. Keep up the good work.

Solid game, the difficulty is just fine, the balancing mechanism is well implemented.

Really fun game. I love the gasp sound effect you get when the dishes are about to fall down. The graphics are really simple but pleasing, and the sound effects and music set the mood really nicely. Also, the menu and everything is really polished for a GameJam game. Great job!!

Great entry!
I laughed when dishes got REALLY out of balance and crowd made frightened gasp.
Mechanics is great, loved artstyle of stickman (reminded me of xiao xiao series)

The manager sure does get angry. One suggestion is the up/down arrows should continue going up/down the steps instead of having to switch to left and right.

@mr-madcat: Nice idea =)
@howardcs: Yes, this would make moving easier. But i am afraid it could get more complicated to balance high dish stacks, because then also up/down would indirectly control the dish movement, depending on the direction of the stairs. I guess we will have to try to tell =)

Very nice entry, fits perfectly with the theme! Found controls to be very food, even though the game gets hard pretty quickly. Visually coherent and with tons of humor, which I love in a LDJam entry. I will take my date to KFC! :D Congrats on this!

Well, there's nothing to add. This game is firing on all cylinders! You have an awesome art style, tight controls and well picked sounds.

The only gripe I have is that the player character can vanish off screen. Perhaps some colliders or walls to the left and right?

Absolutely loved this game. The art style was great and I loved the sound effects when you are about to drop the dishes and then manage to save them. Great job!

@andreas-ragen-ayal We thought about preventing the player from leaving the screen but we thought this was more fun. There are two ways to handle walls at the edges of the screen: either you lose balancing the stack by moving, causing you to lose as soon as you run into a wall, or the wall sort of stabilizes the stack, making balancing at the edges really easy.

Being able to leave the screen was the best solution. Running off the screen will cause you to lose most of the time but it is possible to fix your mistake. And if you pull it off it's extra exciting because you managed the balancing while not seeing the stack.

Very cool game! However somehow my score didn't want to save, even after reloading the game...

Fun polished game! I appreciate your food taste and that you think it should be served in restaurants on plates :)
Good job!
