ItchBanner.gif 'Plunder the Tower, but thieves beware; the promise of gold may be more than you bargained for...'

Avarisk is a simple vertical platformer, where your final score is based upon your speed and the riches you've picked up. However, each coin will limit your jumps, and speed up the ever-rising spike floor; it's a balancing-act of score verses survival!

Play it in-browser, or download it from itch.io~!

Seemed like an interesting idea, but it got stuck at "Tutorial Cleared, press up to continue". Pressed up, nothing. Tried a bunch of other keys... nothing. Refresh and tried it again, just to be sure.

@jward I'm not sure how I missed that... Should be fixed now though~

Really enjoyed this, great idea and well executed :) Would've preferred WASD controls though, not a big fan of arrow keys

I love the idea, but you might want to make the difficulty scaling a bit slower. Getting used to the mechanics takes a bit. The slipperiness of movement was kind of annoying at first. The pixel art was pretty good, and the music was nice(I bit chaotic sounding though). This is definitely one of the more innovative games I've played. ^-^

Pretty nice! Jump height affected by number of coins is a great idea. The only complain I have is about the game camera. It would feel much better if it wasn't connected to the character so firmly.

It's a nice game, for sure. The gameplay was a bit difficult, but I think that could've been fixed with a slower, but still just as low, jump. The graphics were quite appealing and set up a nice mood for the game.
Congratulations on your entry!

A good game, with a clever design and a beautiful aesthetic, congratulations to the game. The fall of the jump seems a little quick, but nothing that hinders the game, can be a choice of dynamics. I especially liked to have some modifiers in the chests!

Cool concept that's simple on the surface but allows for some p interesting complexity. Predicting jumps was annoying and it was p difficult to get the hang of. Controls felt a tad bit stiff. Addicting and challenging in a tubular way. Surf on!

Really challenging, well made game! Great concept as well. I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWC1pkAxfVs
