As the darkness grows ever closer, you remember something a wise old man told you. Something about a fearless dragon guarding scrolls that could reverse the darkness. You are the brave hero to take the dragon on himself, alas, he's quite the distance away, and we're travelling by foot. But no worries, On the way there, we can gather some supplies and a new weapon.

Scrolls is an auto scrolling RPG. Level up, upgrade your gear, complete quests, and get rich while preparing to defeat the dragon.

Controls:

WASD: Walk

Mouse: Attack, aim, tools

Spacebar: Jump

Escape: Inventory

SWITCH ITEMS WITH NUMBER KEYS! 1. SWORD 2. PICKAXE 3. AXE 4. SHOVEL

Awesome idea and a great game. All graphics look nice, but I liked void the most. Really fast paced game, maybe too fast in some places, but that can easly be tweaked.

Music was good, but I would also like to have some feedback on hitting things. At first I thought that ghost could not be killed, but it was just that it had a lot of health.

Great game, well fitting the theme. Cheers!

I agree completely with the audio for feedback on what you're doing - would definitely help. However, the game provided an enjoyable experience, and was an awesome fit to the theme! Good work! :)

I liked the graphics and the audio. Found the regular gameplay went an acceptable pace, but managing the inventory was a bit frantic! I guess that was the point :smile: I liked the approach you took with the towns. You buy, then sell, then pick up a quest that (hopefully) matches what you bought.

Interesting take on the theme executed well :thumbsup:

This game was awsome! Will defiently keep on playing it!!! The music was awsome and the graphics looked amazin. Like ryzy27 said tho, in some places the game was a little bit to fast. It's east to get good at your own game when you are the dev. ;) Great job!

The idea is great and it works so well, picking up items, fighting enemies and accepting and completing quests while always being in motion. The visuals are nice too and altogether form a fitting style as well as the music and sounds. The only critical thing would be, as @ryzy27 already said, that there is no hit feedback, but I can look over that seeing how good the rest of the game is! Nice job!

Fun game! Missing some sound effect that would enhance the experience. It was a bit hectic with the constant moving and the inventory. The graphics was also good. Great job :thumbsup:

Hey! Pretty cool little game here! So when I got to the first town I was super excited when I saw all the things to buy and sell, but then couldn't figure out how to swap weapons or mine rocks from my quest so all that excitement to get to the next town and upgrade again was suddenly lost.

Some sound effects and hit indicators for enemies would have helped a lot.

The art was pretty good given the time constraints

Overall it was pretty fun but a little too challenging for me. Good entry!

At first it was super hard but after understanding how to kill the ones that throw bones at you and how to better upgrade my tools it became super awesome!
Super fast paced .... and I liked that ... dragon was a bit easy though.
best way for me to pass this was to ignore harvesting rocks and only harvest trees since they drop a lot of apples :P

The graphics are awesome, the music is pretty good too. The concept is really awesome as well. Unfortunately, I found it too difficult. I think you got the speed right it gives a nice sense of panic but, there's no sound effects or knockback when you hit an enemy which makes killing them and staying alive really hard. Not so much in a challenging way but rather a frustrating way. Also, I think using the scroll wheel instead of the number keys would've made it a lot better and a better UI would help out too. Overall, the game is awesome!

This was a fun entry! I did not manage to finish the game so I guess everything is evil now, but I had a lot of fun all the way. The music is good and fitting, the graphics are great for the short amount of time and you even managed to implement an inventory and quest system! I guess it is a bug but I could not equip a chest piece, as it would not go into the chest slot. Great game!

I have bouncy hair! The monsters dance! Wow. My wrist is sore from all the clicking, but I had a lot of fun. Loved the arms and saws coming in from the left. This was very entertaining. Also loved the drive-through...well, more like walk-through buy/sell/trade stations. If only it were always that quick! Music track was fun and long enough that it didn't repeat too much...yet. Gonna cut this short and go play some more....

Lots of fun! Definitely an interesting combination, I like that you have to make quick decisions about what to buy and sell. My main complaint would be lack of sound effects when hitting enemies. The music also gets a little repetitive, but it's not bad. Nice work.

This was a pretty fun game to play! Fast-paced an more than a little tricky, especially when you're trying to sift through your inventory to find what you need. There were times where I was held back due to RNG... Couldn't afford the axe (which was just a few acorns), and the quest was to chop down trees... Didn't get an axe in the next town, either. Won't penalize you for it, though, since it's a jam, and imbalances are bound to happen. A solid experience, good job~

A principe to be interesting! It reminds me of old-school games! It lacks effects when touched or touched and it seems to fly when you jump. The inventory needs to be simplified I think because accessbile in real time! but once it's all set really a good game!

Really solid game you published here !
Once you played 2/3m everything go smoothly, but I had some trouble at the start. Maybe you should have, at least, add a screen of the inventory in the "thing to know before playing" ? It was quite hard to understand everything with the wall pressuring you.

All in all, a really good game ! I found myself tryharding to reach the end !

Very fun game. Maybe a little less randomness in the vendors so there's a logical progression in the items like a real rpg.

This is a fantastic game! A really good entry for a game jam. The two genres actually worked really well together, good job! I didn't manage to make it to the end because of those dastardly skeletons. I found it really hard to get past them! I'd love to see this expanded on further, perhaps with some platforming elements. Really, an amazing entry, keep making games!

It is fun idea. But attacking (clicking mouse) doesn't have effect sometimes.
