But, the catch is that the more rockets you have, the heavier you are and the heavier you are, the lower you jump :)

You will fall through those translucent platforms, but if you shoot them, they will boost you even more than regular ones (forgot to put that in the game).

I used Unity, Krita (for my "art") and Paint.

Don't be scared by my "programmer's art" ;)

PS there's a surprise waiting for you at the end of last level ;)

Rocket sometimes jump? The spacebar to jump is working super inconsistenly on my machine (like 1 every 4 but random)

For those having issues -- spacebar and rocket both work fine! You have to jump first and THEN fire. If you fire first, you bounce before you jump and then don't get the jump + rocket boost together.

I had a lot of trouble with the level with the see through platforms x_x

Good old Quake times.

Spacebar works fine for me. Game is really difficult, though. You have to nail the rockets perfectly.

If you have troubles nailing those rocket jumps, assigning jump to the right mouse button helps a bit with the timing ;)
The game is difficult at start, but it shouldn't be long before you get the hang of mechanics and physics and you're able to hit most of the jumps consistently.

It's an interesting game. I've always been someone who loves rocket jumping in games, and that's why I like this game too. The mechanics are a tiny bit clunky at times, but the feeling is there. My only problem was estimating how much the extra rockets would slow me down. It's an interesting choice you give to the player, because there is usually only one right amount of rockets that you can take. I didn't manage to finish the game, because I got stuck on the first moving red bar, but I can see the potential here. Good job on the entry! btw, programmer art is encouraged here ;)

If you are stuck on that moving red bar in level 4 then get 4 rockets before you jump on that big box where you can see that moving bar thing. Use 2 rockets to get up on that box and then rocket jump above that bar and this should leave you with at least one rocket left to get to that big red field and a few translucent platforms :)

@rahmkota3 Oh right, I totally forgot you could wall-rocket-jump! Thanks

Nice gameplay. Feels almost like a logic puzzle game.

This was really cool. I'm an old Tribes player so I totally love rocket jumping.

I needed the mouse sens way higher, so it was great that you had the option in game. I hit it like 10x and it was what I wanted. However, every time the level restarts or a new one is loaded, that is reset to default which hurt badly since you need to restart so often (or at least I did).

Otherwise, I enjoyed the rocket jump puzzles! Nice work.

This feeling of betrayal the first time you fall through a transparent platform, I'll remember that.

But yeah, it's really cool once you get the timing down and just rocketjump your way through the levels. You integrated the theme well and if you replace the programmer art I can see this working as a complete game concept. I for one enjoyed it a lot.

@pkenney I know about that bug but I'm pretty new to Unity and I didn't know how to keep a variable value throughout the whole game :(
@captaindreamcast sorry about that transparent platform ;) I wanted to add a tutorial text next to it but I totally forgot about that :)

Very interesting game, although it needs music and is a bit glitchy with the jumping and rocket.

It's not my kind of game, but I really liked the way you've implemented the theme.
Too complicated to combine jump and shooting.
I agree with the other friend, sound could be a real improvement for the game...

Really good use of theme, but the jump was a bit too floaty. Good job!

Fun to play, while I am not all that good at rocket jumping this was a fun challenge. I really liked your interpretation of the theme, it made me have to strike an interesting balance between having enough rockets to retry a jump if I messed up and being light enough to make the jump in the first place. I think that the game would have benefited a lot from some sound, but it doesn’t detract from the fun of some good old rocket jumping.

I really like you included more levels ! I had serious troubles with the one with floating translucent floors, but the mechanics were solid! Thanks for this :)

This was fun, it brought back nice memories of UT99's impact hammer (but without its awful noise!). I had trouble with the invisible platforms- I was able to shoot/jump from 2 or 3 of them, but couldn't get high enough to collect more ammo, so couldn't get past that level. Maybe have a simpler level to introduce those. I liked being able to adjust mouse sensitivity.

Very interesting turning a rocket into more of a puzzle mechanic than anything actually dangerous. Sound and actual rocket projectiles moving when you fired would have gone a fair ways to making this feel better.
