The artwork and sound design here is brilliant. The colours work well with each other and sprites are easy to see. The music and sound effects are perfect for the old-school SNES feel.

The keyboard binding for jumping and shooting feels a little awkward, but other than that the player character controls very well and platforming feels precise. I didn't finish the game but it was enjoyable enough that I'll keep it installed for later!

The graphics are perfect and fulfill their purpose really well. It makes the game all the more visually appealing. The audio fits in very well too. Good job.

Controls are a bit unusual but that gave me the feeling of using an emulator to run an actual SNES game :)
Graphics are awesome, good job with the parallaxing background!
Sounds are good as well, music could be more memorable, but I know how hard that is :D
Some enemys had collission issues resulting in a sound error and the hitbox of the character could be a little bit thinner so you don't "fly" while standing on an edge. That gave it a little odd feeling.
But overall, good job! Keep it up!

It is a classic snes game, nice game, gameplay is fun, music and sounds are awesome and the art is good, even with some assets looking like super mario

Cool NES Style Game. A little bit hard to master and to understand that you can jump on enemies to reach the sky lol.
But a good game :)

Hi! What OS are you running the game on? I could only test it on windows, so i'm not sure if i can help you.

THe balance is kind of weird (enemies are no challenge alone, but instantly kill you when they gang up) but a lot of fun! I couldn't figure out how to finish level 3 though :c

Controls are a bit uncomfortable. Try the classic Z for jumping and X for attacking. Also, a "bweep" sound when hurt doesn't really work that well. At first I thought the moving spikes were good stuff that made you jump. If you had some camera shake and some "brrrt" sound when hurt, it would be clearer. The enemies just wouldn't make their way to you if there was a wall between you and the enemy. Some more advanced path finding would bring the game to the next level. Try making the bullets bigger and appealing. Even if the damage they do is the same, the player will feel much more powerful if the bullets are big, they make particles when they hit and if theres some little screenshake when you shoot. I recommend watching a talk on that on Youtube called "the art of screenshake"

The art is great and the level design is cool too. I liked the fact that there were different levels with different tiles and sprites. Good job!

Robocop in super mario world! Controls feel nice. Shooting the enemies feels a bit unfulfilling, a bit more feedback or more weaker enemies could help that. Awesome music!

Wow, very polished graphics-wise! Took me a while to get the hang of the controls, but managed to figure it out after a while :D Great Job!

The art and the sounds are amazing. Game is well polished and plays really nicely. Enjoyed playing this game.

Do check out the controls though. I had some problem getting adjusted to this type of layout(not that it is a problem, just a small suggestion).

Anyway. This was a really good game. Good luck and Congratulations!

I really liked the graphics and the sound, but the game has some problems.
Sometimes enemies get stuck inside the floor or spawn at some wierd places.
Besides this thing and somewhat clunky controls it isfairly good game.

Neat little platformer!

Neat game! The colisions are a bit weird sometimes, but it's still playable. The enemies seems a bit tough when they are too many. Also, it happens that you have to jump but you can't see the ground, and then it's possible to fall in a pit event if you where very close to the edge of the platform.

Keep it up!

Graphics and sound were great! Very cohesive. Would have liked to see a bit more play into the theme though.

Nice! I definitely appreciated the throwback visuals and music. I liked how the impact sounds sounded like a kick drum, but where was the laser sound? I wanted a PEW PEW!!! haha a couple of times the flying guys got stuck in the walls, and the sound for them I guess hitting a wall kept repeating, which resulted in a really loud buzzing sound. Also I may be an outlier in having this experience (I have a High dpi screen), but this is what it looked like on my monitor: ![Screenshot (82).png](///raw/1dc/a/z/84a8.png) hahaha I had to squint to play! haha Anyway, enjoyed it! :)

Very cool! Excellent graphics and solid gameplay - the worlds were well-built and the difficulty curve was fairly steep, but I felt myself getting better as I got a feel for the mechanics. Nice sound design and UI as well.

@gulyasarni66 Linux. You're probably not shipping lwjgl with the build, or not linking it properly. Again, I have no idea how it works on Java.

I liked the game quite a bit.

The graphics are very nice. The only thing I didn't like was the perspective the background creates. Normally things in the background are smaller than in the foreground, so I thought the platforms in the background were just different colored blocks at first. It seems very weird in places and I got confused a few times.

The music is pretty cool and the SFX are fitting. The gameplay is basic, but it works. Doesn't feel that smooth, but is also far from being clunky. The worst thing I can say is probably that the hitboxes feel off and need a bit of tweaking.

Overall cool game. Good work.

Precise controls and nice details (recognised that you can see the damage on the flying enemys).

Good platformer with nice retro graphics and sounds.

Gratulate on creating 6 levels in a compo!

Well done!

I may have underestimated the power of Java. This, from scratch?! Impressive.

I actually liked controls and mechanics; seemed intuitive, consistent and straightforward. As I'm terrible at platformers, the enemies found me an easy target and didn't get past world 1.

Sound and graphics may be super simple, but it's vary consistent with the genre, so very much thumbs up.

That was extremely difficult, I am still unable to pass world 1 because of these flying bots. However, I like the mechanics of the game and controls were easy and well-done. The visuals are ok to me (not a fan of the art-style but I don't dislike the visuals, they are well-done and does the job) and music & sounds are really nice. Overall, it is fun and challenging and although I failed miserably, I'll try again.

I like the music and the graphics. The gameplay is mostly okay, although there are a few small problems:
- The controls are kind of hard to use. An option to use space for jump would probably be good.
- It is possible for a flying enemy to spawn in right as you are jumping over a gap and block you, causing you to fall through no fault of your own.
- It is possible to get stuck between a flying enemy and a wall / floor / spikes, which will almost necessarily kill you.

Fun game, definitely brings back memories, liked that level 2 even went underground like the classic Mario. Couple of glitches in places with collisions, i got stuck in a ceiling once and inside an enemy another time. Those flying enemies respawning right in your way can be a bit annoying, maybe worth rethinking. Difficulty is pretty well tuned but still on the hard side, i didn't make it past level 2. Music and graphics were nice too. would have liked to be able to scale up the screen a couple of time to appreciate it more.. I would definitely give players infinite continues. No one these days, myself included has the patience to keep replaying through levels they already completed. I made the same mistake in my game. Overall great job.
