Dementia by Kjetil

A story about memories lost.
Replaying the same story, as it becomes more and more fragmented.
* Note: As a player, you are re-playing the same level (with some differences). * This is supposed to show the passing of time, and memories fading...
_ Edit 16.Aug.18: _ * Added correct MacOS download link. And re-tagged iOS link to iOS (build is exactly the same as WIN, but not tested)
Supports Xbox, PS controllers and keyboard
*Keep in mind, pressing ESC will completely exit the game. *
_ (And, yes, it does have an end) _
_ Next time we do ludum dare, we should try get find a real programmer to join us... _

* Bugs: * There are some we know about that we didn't get time to fix. Notably, some of the story text might fade out right after they are triggered. It is also possible to "cheat" your way through the map by jumping and dodging right after each other, we never bothered to remove this, as we found it a very handy tool when debugging.
* The Team * (roles) * Kjetil (@kjetil) - Color/Sound/Code * Karseth (@karseth) - Level Design/Code * Leif Einar Eide (@leif-einar-eide) - Animation

But did i'v done something wrong ? After arriving to the dad's boat, i returned at the beginning.
It was entended ?
Just a few points you could enhance :
- The camera is jittery when the main charcter finishes his animation of walking. It's really breaking the immersion in the game :/
- I had some bugs on the villages were signs made sounds of writting but nothing appeared
This is so nice, congratulations for all the hard work !
Maybe try my game, i tried to make a great ambiance and mood too :)
We have not made it clear that you are retelling the story (though there are subtle hints),
and it was one of our late concerns that we didn't get time to clarify.
Yes, we are definitely aware of the camera issues, it's been on the bug list since early Saturday, but was one of those "pick your poison" issues, where it got que'd down (because it was sorta working) until there was no more time left.
But didn't (don't) want to touch anything code related after deadline had passed... Not sure how the rules are regarding that, this is our first Ludum.
A quick thought: how about speeding up the text a bit?
@plepletier Thanks a lot!
But i could enjoy a little bit of this world.
It has incredible artwork and a cool gameplay. so keep going on^^
Unfortunetly there were som bugs that made me miss some of the content :/ I never got the see the "buillies" but they were mentiond in text. Some of the textfields just showed up for a fraction of a second and all i got was the scribling sound. There were also some texts where the entirety of the text did not fit/scroll so i missed a few line. All in all great work!
We didn't get to performance test it too much, but that's something we'll have more in mind next time!(and maybe catch less bugs too :P)
Congratulations, this is about the deepest story I've ever seen in an LD entry. Graphics are stunning, and animation style is utter unique. Music is also fitting and very moving.
Even though this is a walking simulator with not a lot of mechanics I would consider this one of my all time favorites, and easily the best game I've played this LD. And there were other great ones!
Only bad thing I have to say about it is the ending music. It could have been a bit more calm like the rest.
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.

It really is more of an experience rather than a game, but that's not a bad thing at all, exploring the potential of the medium!
