Postmortem

Start of this LD was a bit rough because I didn't like the theme at all. I was aiming for the jam so I said to myself that I will start drawing/coding something and maybe the idea will come up. Eventually I ended up with the house and point&click style walking game. Idea about the actual gameplay came up very-early on the submission day :-) From then on I was drawing and coding straight up to the submission hour. I thought it will end up badly because I had only one level and the game wasn't winnable until the last moments before submission :-) I took my last strenght and made the winning possible. But I still ended up only with one level. The lesson for me is that it is possible to create a game even if the theme is really bad for me. However it may not be easy. And of course I still have to learn how to draw and create any sound :-)

Hope everybody enjoyed this LD and survived the server problems during the submission.

I'd say that you don't have to get stuck on the theme if you don't like it, make something you will enjoy. As for Amadeus I really like the idea behind it, I think a child trying to find his parents is a theme everyone can relate to. The visuals look good which helps the game, but I wish the mechanics and gameplay would feel a bit more dynamic and challenging, because I was able to beat the game in just 1-2 minute and didn't really feel rewarded for doing it. Overall I like the game considering the struggle you've gone through with the theme, keep creating looking forward to new game from you!

The artstyle is pretty improvable, but the idea could become something if you evolve it into something more polished.

I think that the room transition is quite nice, but the ghosts movement allows you to beat the game very quickly. I also thought I had lost the game the first time I got to my mum, since the game didn't do much to convey that I had succeeded.

Overall, I think you did a great job, considering the time you had.

With some polish and extra work, this could become something really challenging and fun.

Nice start, definitely needs more gameplay. The ideas remind me of some older console games whose names I forget :) The level is definitely graphically complex, and you may have spent too much time on graphics, it's an easy trap to fall into. Side note is I instinctively clicked on the wall to try to move to that point, and that doesn't seem to work.
