[raw]
made by TehT for LD 38 (COMPO)

You are a god building a world so that tiny creatures can worship you and give you good feels. Try not to drain your Mana completely, and see how many points you can get before your 100 turns are up!

Used Tools: Unity3d Inkscape

It's very easy to fail early on if you overspend mana, I would recommend getting some resource income by summoning a forest and a mountain, and focus on population growth early to get a mana income up to 10, at which point you can freely expand. A worked grassland tile next to a lake will create a farm, which increases your income. there are several other buildings to discover.

Wow, my first LD ever and I managed it with a whole 15 minutes to spare!

Well executed! Dragging the world around it really satisfying... would be good to see this small world entry expanded into a big world!

Not quite sure what the aim of the game or how one produces mana.

@mrspeaker - thanks for the comments, I have some ideas into expanding it to a larger scale with more tile types and building upgrades. The code is quite a mess tho and I will need to redo a lot of it for that to happen. When I do tho, the result will be published on my itch.io page :)

@impbox - my biggest failure with this game was the lack of time to do a proper introduction. Some of the features are supposed to be "secret" and discovered under play, but it is extremely difficult to get it started to begin with. Mana is generated at a rate of 2 per population, which means you have to level the city up past 2 before you run out of mana. You need to be conservative early on and only build what you need, and expand using grassland tiles to pass the turns. Once you get a good amount of mana income from leveling up your city, you can focus on maximising your income.

An interesting puzzle game!

I liked how you literally start with a small world, and then expand it. A nice take on the theme! The graphics are quite nice, and it is easy to identify the various tile types. I did miss some "tool-tips" on the exact effect of each tile type.

As you stated, it is very easy to overextend yourself in the beginning, but once you get a good mana income, it is quite fun to hunt for the special tile types. The fact that you get to play after the 100 turns was also a nice touch (although the score keeps accumulating).

A possible bug: For some reason, using the "town"-resource button never caused a town-tile to appear for me, it just drained the mana. Or maybe it was just supposed to increase the population?

All in all, it was an enjoyable puzzle/strategy game, and a good entry for your first LD!

@Somnium, thanks for the feedback!
I was going to add a tile income overlay, but i frankly ran out of time :/
You should be able to build additional towns as well, so i think there's a bug there.
I fixed one bug last minute where you could replace any tile into a town for free, but it seems I introduced a new one in the fixing process.. Expanding into a new tile you should be able to make additional towns.

Interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
