Description

Hexworld is a multiplayer tile-placement strategy game where up to 8 players compete for control of a small world.

Place one of the five tiles on your hand on the board to earn points. Different tiles earn points in different ways, be sure to read the tool-tips.

You can play single player and try to get as high a score you can, or try multiplayer if anyone else is playing! You can also play multiplayer against yourself by clicking "Add player" after creating a room.

Note! Creating multiplayer rooms does not work in the WebGL version, because of limitations in Unity networking.

Tools - Unity3D - Blender - Audacity - Photoshop

Very fun, short and sweet! I don't really understand how the ice could have any adjacent tiles from another player. Does that feature only come into play in multiplayer?

@uei thank you for playing! Bigger maps was on the list but I had to cut it for time.

@Haydossy thank you! Yeah the glacier tiles are only useful in multiplayer, that's a bit of an oversight I suppose. :) Thanks for playing!

Very fun game! I won the game and don't know if there was an opponent playing at the same time too?
Anyways, I hope you could expand this game, seems like a very interesting idea to polish.

As a feedback you should add music!

Cheers!

Funny game ! I think it can only be better with a friend :D
The idea was good. As the others said, with larger map, it would be great too !

I played the single player version and I really liked the idea, but at the moment I think the main challenge in this mode is to try to beat your previous scores. If you intend to continue developing the game, some kind of conditions or goals would probably be an interesting way to pace the gameplay progression as well.

As for the multiplayer mode, I haven't had the opportunity to try it, but I already feel how it can be more challenging and fun against some friends. Getting it ready for a compo entry is no small feat, hats off for that! :)

Overall you've got a very solid entry, congratulations!

PS: Low poly hex tiles were lovely, too.

Lovely graphics, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/CCYaVM8tRMM), if you’d like to take a look :)

Lovely graphics, satisfying to see the chain of points appear. I would have loved to play against a computer player or something. All in all great entry!

Very clean simple tile placement game. I enjoyed playing it, though the multiplayer option didn't seem to be working for me so I only played single player. Could be improved with some background music and a more interesting skybox, but other than that, a very polished game that I would be happy to play again.

Really solid entry. Nice clean graphics. My only complaint is that the resolution was too large for my laptop and some of the text got cut off. If you get a chance check out our hex based game we made https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/down-the-rabbit-hole

This is a really cool concept - there's depth here that I wouldn't expect from a LD game. Going to make my wife play this with me when she gets home!

Single player mode is cool for practice and all but stomping someone else is where the real joy will be!

This is awesome. I could see this being played on bigger boards. I will have to try the multiplayer.

Wow, I enjoyed a lot the concept. Solid idea and elegant graphics. I think single player should be more "practice mode" because I feel too good winning all the time.

The points you get when you start with a grass tile are way too high comparing with times where you dont get any. Polishing the possibilities of points seems like a difficult task but necessary in order to get a fair game.
Too many different tiles for the size of the map specially with several players. Also it would be nice to see the rules of the tiles after placing them on the board. It's difficult to remember which are your tiles. For now I prefer playing alone.

Tons of potential. My sincere congratulations. I think I will play more times these days.

Thank you everyone for playing, I'll try to find time to play and comment on your games (if any) as soon as possible!

@camilo In the top left corner there's a list of players in the game. I'm afraid I don't have the skill to make music on my own, but if I take this project further I will find something suitable to add in.

@ithildin Thank you for your comments! There definitely needs to be some iterating on the game design for it to become a great game.

@le-slo Thank you! I'm trying out some different ideas on how to handle the scoring. Currently thinking about getting rid of the negative points and instead having restrictions on what tiles can be placed where.

Really nice entry! I loved the board game likeness. I played the single player one, I think I’ll try playing this with friends too someday. Graphics are really nice, but sounds are bit repetitive.

Remember the Board game "Settlers". A bit difficult to consider the balance of cells. But when you remember the main cells it becomes a very funny puzzle game. Excellent mechanics of growth!
