25 - The Golden Age by Ambeurk

[raw]
made by Ambeurk for LD 40 (JAM)

Interested in a little narration ?

screenshot.png

I did this little game like a compo (48 hours, alone, all the art and code), but didn't want to provide the source code so here comes 25 in the jam category !

Game is quite short, but I hope some of you will enjoy it :fingers_crossed:

Infos : - Mouse controls - Unity and GIMP were used - Made in less than 20 hours (it's kinda the "student who have a test on monday morning" format)

Nice idea. The doctor kept selling me pills and the boss didn't give me any money for doing a good job, so I ran out of money very quickly :D.

## Praise

It is an interesting idea and fits the theme very well. If there were actually meters like those, then Ludum Dare would certainly unbalance some of them. Not bad for 20 hours.

## Suggestions

Needs some audio to make up for the lack of visuals.

Really nice game, it can get difficult to balance everything out, and I like the multiple choice dialogues with different consequences. Even more impressive when you know it only took 20 hours. Good job!

I liked the minimalism of the game. I'm a fan of visual novels/choose your own adventures so it's good to see one in a jam. I would have preferred for this to be a linear story rather than the same decisions randomly selected though.

At first interesting, but it got repetitive until I decided to try to lose the game. Maybe try to add some more graphics or background picture to make it more playful?

There were many spelling errors and the game seemed simple at first but it grew on me :). I really felt like dad was a real character and my cousin sure does have a lot of birthdays lol. And it's a very unrealistic game because I always had too much money! I swear that never happens in real life...

Interesting game, I liked it!

Well done, gets repetitive but all the different endings and how to get them is interesting :)

Interesting, but the problem is that it is may be too easy to stay stable so you can play a long time without encounter the end screen and you come across the same situation a lot of time. So it become more fun to try to loose than to be stable !

- Hm... why is 'time to ourselves' a prize-cup? From the 'bad ending' I got, it _seems_ that it's more about selfishness than time really. _(I suppose I can get a little egocentric sometimes, but I always say it's different from egoistical)_
- Spelling errors caught: "but this won't happened", "it's not big deal dad, I can tell you"
- The first time around, before the repetition sets in, it can be hard to gauge how an answer will influence you 'balances'... but that's just like real life I suppose  _(So, was it intentional I wonder?)_
- Rising to the challenge, even though you've got about 1/2 the time of a full Compo is always admirable of course!

Really liked the idea behind this. With a bit more polish like music and some little more animation flair this would be a great mobile game. Nice work.

I'm honestly really impressed by this game. It had a nice element of strategy that came from picking the different options, and almost felt like it had a story. I was really determined to go as long as I could, just because of how much fun I had with it. My only two problems were that the options got too repetitive and that the grammar was a bit off. If you could have spent about an hour or two making more options, it would have massively improved the game. Either way, fantastic job!

I love this idea! the one thing I'll say is that it really doesn't stick with the theme. The more you have, the worse it gets but you don't ever get more! If it got more difficult over time that would really be a fun challenge. Good work.
