Topdowngrounds is a Top-down Turn-based Battle Royale game.

It's combines the fast-paced and intense gameplay of battle royale with the more slow-paced and strategical approach of turn-based games.

As per battle royale tradition (and inspiration from another trendy game at the moment), 100 players (you and 99 CPU-controlled) are placed on a battlefield and must fight to the death. Each player rolls a die (1-6), and takes turns that can be either: move, shoot, reload.

You spawn with no weapons, so you'll need to search inside the numerous crates scattered around the level for guns and ammunition. In addition, the play zone is shrinking every few turns, so you will need to navigate accordingly.

Overcome the challenges and become the last one standing.

---CONTROLS---

[W, A, S, D] Queue move turn

[R] Queue reload turn

[LeftClick on Enemy] Queue attack turn, loot crate

[Enter] Apply turns

[Backspace] Remove turn from queue

[1,2,3] Switch weapons (not queued/considered a turn)

[Escape] Pause

---CHANGELOG--- * Fixed numerous game-breaking bugs * Fixed circle mechanic

Interesting idea, and it could definitely be fleshed out into a new type of genre. I liked the idea of queuing up moves.

I played two rounds. At first I died by being outside the circle, and it was really hard for me to tell where the circle was. The second round I made it to final three, but once I was in the circle I had to just mash both enter keys for awhile waiting for the other enemies to show up. :)

I really like this. I normally don't like turn based games, but I spent far more time on this than I expected to. Who knew turn based BR would work so well? Well done!

Really a great concept! The thing is it very slow paced! But i think thats because of its turn based nature! But overall the game is really good! Keep it up!

Really like this idea. I've never played any of the Battle Royale games before, but this was really cool. I found it a bit frustrating that I was unable to attack after queueing to reload. Made a turn a bit of a waste. Health bars on NPCs would be a nice addition too.

This idea honestly has potential though. Really enjoyed playing the game, it had that '1 more turn' feeling to it. With some sharpening, it could be a really good game. Great work!

Great concept and well executed. It is pretty ambiguous as to whether or not you need to aim and when. I didn't play with sound so that might of helped haha.

Hard to tell when you hit some one, but over all this was fun and a great idea. Queuing up moves worked really well and added an extra layer to the strategy. Good job!

Neat idea, I think this could be fleshed out into a complete game, just with a smaller scale. A lot of waiting around otherwise. Close quarters with less players maybe? Could not figure out from where I'm being hit and why the queue length was changing.

I really like the idea of combining the two themes (battle royale and turn-based strategy) but the game has a few flaws. From what I played the bots don't seem to damage you, the only way to lose hp is to stay out of the circle.
Also the circle teleports randomly, rather than sizing down like most of the battle royale games. This makes it very hard to stay inside it. Other than that, the game is really promising, good job!

Not really a fan of battle royale games, but this was an interesting spin. As mentioned above the AI didn't seem to do any damage to me but it was pretty fun to explore the world. I could see this doing really well with an XCom style action points system and point to point pathing rather than queued manual movement. Otherwise cool entry :)

Yup! This is pretty neat dude! Definitely enjoyed the game!
There's a bit of balancing that has to go in still imo, like enemies taking a few too many shots to kill i feel like, or that there are a few too many crates.
The idea behind it though was cool, so good job guys! :D

I'm a fan of turn-based strategies and completely indifferent to the "battle royale".
But the combination of these genres makes a positive impression. I'm will glad to play in the finalized version.
Good job!

Good game. But the circle mechanic that change too abruptly from one side of the map to another ruins everything.

Nice work, the aesthetic matched the original game's art style very well. Likewise the music was well-done and appropriate for the game. The concept fits the theme really well.

I'll second the call for enemy healthbars, I'm never sure if there's RNG miss or if some enemies have extra health or what. Also I think there's a bug with exiting to main menu and then starting anew - seems like your character is missing and you can't do anything if you restart like that.
