Rogue Ball is a rogue-like football/soccer game. You must explore the dungeon in order to find the goal in order to score a point. However, enemies will be in your way, and your only weapon is your ball!

Its a cool idea, fits the theme really well. The music was a bit too loud, it was hard to hit the enemys sometimes aswell, a kick button would have been good so you could bounce the ball of the walls. Also, I died instantly against an enemy somehow.

Would appreciate if you gave mine a go!

Great use of the theme! Loved the ambience. Was a bit too easy, as the enemy never did much damage and when they ran into the ball they would die. The ending text could've used a vuvuzela ;) Nice job on the random dungeons

Nice concept that works really well! And the contrast of football with the menacing roguelike style is both unnerving and pretty funny :)

Hey, I'm back)
Use of crowd and horror ambient is a really nice touch, it gives a good vibes to the game. I imagine playing Doom with this ball mechanics, that would be great, maybe consider making mod like this?)
Anyway great entry, good luck with your future dev!

Your idea fits the theme very well. I would have loved a kick button to have a better control of the ball. And you should be able to move more quickly than the ball ! Running after it is kind of annoying ! Maybe that you could increase the crowd cheering when you get closer to the goalkeeper !

@AfroAnt I tried to do some balancing but didnt have enough time :( . Also wanted to make scoring a goal as loud as you would see it in a typical game (with the player running around and camera following him, lol)

Thanks for playing!

@Sengi That is a fantastic idea! Maybe i'll play around with that :D

@Elmeri More control with the ball is something I definitely need---when i originally designed it, I didnt think it would be so hard to maneuver. I'll see what I can do in future iterations

Interesting game. I like the look and feel. Dribbling was really hard - eventually I abandoned it and just explored without the ball to try to find the goal. I like that the levels are random (or at least different) after you score. The weird 2-D aspect of the players combined with 3D everything else was OK, although it made for some funny outcomes, like you could squeeze behind the ball in one direction, but not the other, and dribbling up and down was way easier than sideways. Sounds and music were cool - I liked the crowd noise. Nice work.

I liked the game! Nice take on the theme, innovative. Could use smaller dungeons, kicking, more bouncing around

Really good job with making a game out of those two themes, It's a tough one but i thtink you have done a great job and really nailed the objective of the jam, it's definitely incompatible :D

I really like the mood here. It's very spooky. Combined with the silent death animations of the enemies makes it very eerie. The player controlled a bit too inert at times, and I found myself spending a lot of time just forcing the ball where I want it to go.

The graphics and music fit the mood really well, and I think you managed to combine 2 incompatible themes very nicely! :)

I like this idea, fits the theme very well. The player was too sluggish for my tastes, even with sprinting, but killing enemies with the ball was fun. I think you could make this into a very thrilling action game.

I really like the use of theme. Your programmer art is amazing and funny. May be a different enemy behavior would be interesting and I would really love a better control over the ball, but I had my fun playing it.

Concept is really funny. Theme is definitely respected : D I think that top-down ball-pushing concept can suit a real game, which can be quite good !

The game really fits the theme, nice work. I only wish that the player has some animation when kicking the ball and the game will be great.

Apparently I have terrible ball-control, but I love the idea! The cheer at the end made getting through the maze worth it. Enemies were tough to take out, but I like that you gave the player enough health to let them make a few mistakes and still reach the goal. Fun game!

This game is a lot of fun to play! There's definitely some mechanics that just feel rewarding, and I think that this is goofy in a way that works really well. It almost reminds me of some of the 'simulator' games, where it's kind of hard to control but in a funny way and not a frustrating way. Similarly, I think the graphics worked out to that effect as well, the posterboard sprites look good.

It's pretty hard to control, but the idea is neat. I don't know how you could make it any easier, unfortunately, unless you had something like Rocket League where the camera rotates so the ball is always forward. Smacking it into the other players was pretty fun though.

This a a great game! Very enjoyable to play, and implements the theme very well. 5/5 from me, my favourite LD41 game so far.

I had real difficulty with the controls, but certainly an interesting combat-maze-sports game, top marks for the theme.

Really clever idea, and it was fun to play. It has a rewarding learning curve, where it starts to feel more fun the more comfortable you get with the lining up/kicking/moving. Loved the brooding roguelike atmosphere, too. The graphics were simple, of course, but it definitely did the job. Fun game!

I liked the core game mechanic a lot! Needs a little more polish, character animations would have been great. But overall, this is one of the best games in the 'fun' category imo. Good job! ^^

Not a fan of football but I killed the boos and landed a goal, GG. I lost a ball at some point and was about to give up but when I found the boss I just had to go get it. Interesting choice and gameplay.

I was very surprised by this game. It looks like the kind of game that I hate, but the whole mood was so great, that I had to keep playing even if the controls were a little hard to get used to. The combination works surprisingly well, it's weird but interesting, and that's rare!

Interesting idea. The controls feel really unresponsive and the ball is hard to control. Also it was not that fun to look for the goal as there was no indication of where it could be. It is a bit annoying to walk across the whole map with the ball.

It's a good idea. Dribbling is challenging at the beginning but after a while you can get used to it.
I feel that the horror audio, bright lightning, soccer theme and dungeon walls doesn't match at all.
I'm a huge roguelike fan and I believe that only adding procedural random generated mazes doesn't make it a roguelike, just a generated maze. The damage that the ball does to enemies is not consistent (A huge goalkeeper with 2 energy bars was taken out with just one shot) and the damage that the player takes is so little that is almos impossible to die.
I hope you take this feedback in the best way for I'm writing this to help you make better games. Procedural random is not an easy task and you managed to create good mazes and comprehensive physics with the ball.
Keep on!

Great idea but it needs a lot more work. Hitting ball was annoying after a while.
You did it alone so good job anyways!

Interesting concept, fitted the theme very well. Graphics need improvements but are good enough for a LD game. Good job!

That is a really good game! I feel it could have been useful to add bonuses like to get more life as well as a "post-game" of sorts after you've scored, plys maybe make the goalie a bit more than just a big zombie player foe... but beyond that, roguelike foodball game versus zombies, wow, genius concept! I love the fact that the ball is your way to win BUT ALSO your only weapon... very interesting! I'd never play Fifa but yours is a football game I can dig, well done and thanks for sharing :-D
