Planet Bash!
You are the moon of this blue planet and you hate the guys living there, and they hate you too for some reason. This is a little game where you bash the crap out of the planet and its people.
Platforms:
- Windows
Controls:
- Movement: A and D, or Left and Right Arrow Keys (Double tap to move faster!)
- Attack: S or Down Arrow Key (the blue bar is your bash-juice, if it gets too low you won't be able to bash)

Awesome job!
Very satisfying to smash stuff.
@glimaleite if you double tap you move faster, the blue bar only shows the amount of bashing you can do and it actually replenishes faster when you are moving faster, I still have to tweak the cooldown time for the doubletap speed though.
A few niggles of course:
- Keeping the bash button down should bash again and again. Timing your bashes is a rare choice used in dodging. Most of the time I just want to continually bash away.
- Missiles should always be build on the surface of the planet. It is a risk trying to destroy them before launch and as such a compelling choice. You should always give the player those.
Good work!
Hammura-Hamburger - nice track.
Here is my playtest: https://youtu.be/8W8cXQXEAVw
Thank you!
After all it is getting a little boring, although velocity of the game is high. Good concept and great job!
My main complaint is the lack of depth. To me it seems like the most effective way is to simply double tap to the side and keep spinning in that direction while spamming smashes. Make the double tap a short sprint with a cooldown instead of a continuous thing, or make the enemies hit me more effectively when I'm only circling.
I also do not like that it comes with an installer. Just give me a zip or something.
My highscore: 1499686
A simple game with few but very effective elements, that create an intensiv mood. Nice!
@sebasrez and @headmade I figured out how to make it a standalone exe so you don't have to install anything anymore :)
Really well done, it's really fun to play, and the music create just enough pressure to make to mood perfect.
Awesome work guy!
-Great graphics
-Great music
-Tight controls
### Improvements
-Cheesing the missiles by running around in one direction was easy, I flattened the world multiple times. It almost seemed like I was able to crush more when travelling left and right
Small, but great entry, I feel like it was way to easy to beat though. Holding one direction and timing your pounds made things pretty simple for me! My score was 3661002, which seems rather high. Otherwise a great entry!
One of the bests ld38 entries. This game is funny, and cool! Good graphics and good music! The way you made the sound fits with the gameplay ... Awesome!
But I had a bad problem while playing ... Keep spinning around the planet made me VERY, VERY, VERY dizzy. I had to leave the computer for a few minutes after playing. This is very bad ... I do not know how you can solve this problem, but maybe, if you reduce visual information (like the stars) while spinning fast, and apply a motion blur will help prevent this issue.
But I do not wanna reduce your merits for this awesome game because of this.
Good job!
Took a while to get used to the timing of movement and bashing for dodging etc. but a really fun entry - well polished and great use of the theme.
Well done!
You can just **feel** that anger. That moon really doesn't care for what happens down there, and he's pissed as hell.
The mechanic is simplicity itself for the player (though I imagine it was quite a hassle to code just right), but enjoyable beyond belief. You really nailed the animation, audio/visual feedback and general feedback for the player.
What amazes me here, is that you very clearly create affordance for all the elements - after a few brief moments it was clear that tall buildings = more health and more movement, rockets = bad, smashing = good, all that without a single word. That's good design.
Music may not suit all the players, but I love it, for me it's just right. And all the animation and little touches (screenshake, debris and so on) really give it polish.
So far, with a few plays and highscore **891932** I can't really find anything I'd improve here. For me it's great as it is.
Tremendous work, really well done.
Cheers, and stay awesome!
ok, now that I've well beaten my previous hiscore - do you consider adding a hard mode? Or is my score still sucky by the game standards? :)
In the post-jam version of the game I have already addressed stuff like the motion sickness caused by the camera movement and position, I have also added dynamic ramping difficulty, so it gets progressively harder in speed and enemy toughness. Special modes and powerups are being added right now aswell as an improved post death screen that will detail the run with more detail.
@takusan that score is pretty high! Expert mode sounds like something that could be fun to be added into the game.
Cheers!
