Industrial Miner by GhostRunners25

[raw]
made by GhostRunners25 for LD 40 (JAM)

Controls

This game only requires the left click button on the mouse and you left click blocks to mine

How does it fit the theme

The way is fits the theme is not obvious as i have to describe it. The way it fits is by the more blocks you mine, the less that block is worth so it will give you less cash for it. which fits the more you have, the worse it is.

What is it

This game is a down-scrolling mining game where you mine blocks and ores until your pickaxe gets broken and then you go to the shop to upgrade it and then repeat

Is it intentional that you don't have to mine in a continuous line? Would be nice to have a little more challenge.

It seems best strategy is to wait untill miner is near the top of screen and then teleport to the bottom of screen. Got some good amount of gold this way :)

Strategy seems simple, I think 495 may be around the top limit?
A little more elements, maybe upgrading or something, could make this more interesting. Good work!

Enjoyed the simplicity of this. As has been said the additional challenge of having to mine in a straight line rather than teleporting around would've be a nice improvement. Some sound effects would have been nice as well but understandable if you ran out of time.

That's a good game, yet a bit repetitive, I like the fact you have to make some decisions compared to games of this genre.

I regret there's no more shop option. Also, character orientation is weird, if I drag my mouse to the right but stay on the left of the character, the character will face the right, so it does not always face player's cursor.

Besides that, graphics are good and game can quickly be addictive so well done.

If you had the time music would have been nice however I understand how time is a problem. The game itself is good in core concept, and with a bit of development could be a very good game. For example add powerups, obstructions, different minerals, etc. Anyhow, very good job well done!

@roka-josh I agree as i was wanting to add powerups, more ores and biomes which would change how you would have to mine. But i could not add it as i had 2 hours till the JAM deadline so i ran out of time.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I will use this to develop it further and once i think it's complete in some form i will upload it again as a separate link that says "complete game"

It is a simple but fun game, i was honestly a little suprised when i found the end of the mine before the pickaxe durability ended

@nabo369 Yeah sorry. i tried to make the game infinite but it would have taken too much time to do. I am planning to add that to the game.

Thank you for all the feedback. This will help to make the game better and this feedback will also help in my next Ludum Dare game.
