made by Stending for LD 38 (JAM)

The Game

Explore an immense burrow as a shinny little worm.

Screenshots

Screen1.png Screen2.png

Controls

WASD or Arrow keys to move the worm. Controller supported (but a little buggy)

Links

Other

Please finish it (or watch the video !) before rating, the theme use and the main content comes later in the game :)

You don't have to collect all the orbs, it's just to break the linearity!

The game is way less polish and complete that we wanted... We may work on a Post-Jam version one day.

This game is soo relaxing and engaging! There is a lot of satisfaction hidden in moving a worm around and collecting Orbs.

Apparently I closed the game just before a very interesting even, so I'll play it again :)

Beautifull art style, fitting music and good controls. It was hard sometimes to go exactly where I wanted to go but I think this is just me not being used to the controls yet.

Something I would have enjoyed to have, thinking about it, is a counter for the number of collected orb visibile all time on the ui.

(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/34z-nBWKdEw?t=1h17m59s )

To see what happens in the game after I stop playing check @stending youtube chanel **SPOILER** https://youtu.be/iFj7w4V1ipU )

It was a pleasure to explore your small world! Everything is perfect and, while free to move anywhere we are never lost. Great entry!

Really amazing work
Fantastic evolutive music and great graphics!

(PS: The trail behind the player is awesome, I wonder how you did it)

Amazing story-book art, especially the jellyfish (I think that's what it was ) had an awesome glow to them. The music contributes greatly to the whole "zen" exploration experience, good job. The sound effects were the only thing that could be improved by having a lot more variety. At least 5 different orb sounds and a bunch of swimming and flying sounds, shifting the pitch and the duration randomly to make it seem like there are even more samples... Definitely a great entry

As you recommended, it's better to finish the game to understand how the theme has been introduced, and I've to say it has been done very nicely!

I really like the art you made, and it combines in a great way with the music to give an atmosphere really chill and pleasing.

Just a few things I noticed while playing, sometimes it is kinda difficult to make the difference between the areas you can go or not. While playing as the fish, going from the top to the bottow was a bit slow in my opinion, and I think having a display with the current number or orbs you collected would be nice :)

Overall that's a really nice entry!

Wow, I'm amazed at the graphics and the overall mood of this game! I was experiencing some graphical glitches in the worm cave though and at one point just decided to stop collecting coins but I did want to see how the scenery changes through progression. I was surprised when the worm suddenly transformed and later on once again.

I hope to see more like this, keep up good work!

Beautiful artwork, great unique backgrounds. The music is really good too, but i think it doesnt match the game 100%. For the worm and the fish, maybe only three key to control would be better, one for going forward and the other to rotate, at least for the worm you could have more diagonal obstacles. Pretty neat, good job.

This looks great! I want to play it! You should make a web or Mac build when you get a chance!

Honestly really cool. You really did a lot in just a few days. The fluidity of the worm was a very cool effect - it did make the fish and the bird seem a bit static. I love the whole premise of the game, and the music and SFX went along perfectly. Really nicely done.

Well that's one hella cute worm ! :D

* **Stunning Graphics.** I'm impressed by all the work you achieved on a Jam.
* **Awesome Music.** It blends perfectly with the general mood and the sound effects of the orbs.
* **Simple Gameplay.** Basic and intuitive as you just have to explore and collect orbs.

I think that a narrative/written story could be a great addition to this game.

I liked the Ending ! Didn't expected it though. It explained nicely the meaning of all those transitions.

I Played this on Livestream a bit ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwY1-PtcDqs

This was an absolutely fantastic, I have zero complaints and it was amazingly constructed. The art and music are absolutely stand-out in this jam, and I have this on my list of 'Best of" for this jam when I do that video.

Very cool game. While playing it I wondered how it related to the theme but then there was the revelation at the end that made it make sense. Good job! The game is very beautiful and it feels like your playing a painting. The sound and music is also very good and it all adds up to a very atmospheric chill game. I enjoyed playing it!

Very nice and relaxing, it is missing only some more detailed animations and transitions from phase to phase, but other than that well done.
It looks very polished :)

Very well done. Kudos to the art department for making the fish and worm cyan (makes them easy to see in dark areas), although a cyan bird against a blue sky was a little hard to see.

This is a very simple game, but it's such a joy to play, with the wonderful graphics and sound!

I only have a few issues with it . . .
When making tight turns as the worm, he gets jagged edges. It looks like you made him out of squares. This just doesn't look as nice.

Also, when flying or swimming, you switch the direction the player goes, but since you can easily go offscreen, it seems weird . . .

Anyways, I love this game!

Best game I've played so far. Super chill, beautiful sounds, music, atmosphere and artwork. If I had one nitpick it was that the fish didn't get as much love as either the worm or the bird. Love this game though.

I really enjoyed playing this - it's beautiful to look at and the music is very relaxing - it doesn't grate on you as you progress. Loved the slime trail he leaves behind and I had fun getting him into some very tight spots (and out again!) Nice to find a relaxing game :-)

A feel good experience I really enjoyed! It contains some twists that are pleasantly surprising, and it's just nice to travel between these beautiful painted-like settings, with a super chill and awesome evolutive music. 2 points that are crucials for these kind of games to be good, and it's just off the charts in this case (especially for a game jam). Really impressing, and overall a pleasant entry! Well done everyone.

This was a surprising experience, I really did not expect it to go in that direction. There are a few areas I think could improve the gameplay, the tight areas as the worm made it slow down the experience. There was an area where I had to go back down the tube and that was narrow enough to make the path interesting while not making it too tight. It was also strange when the orbs where placed in the middle of the trigger point where the camera moves up or down, because as I collected the orbs it would constantly move the camera based on my position. I'm sure it would be less disorienting if the orbs in the middle instead of on the edges. Aside from running into walls, the movement felt fantastic. The bird was maybe a little too fast, but I get that it was meant to be an upgrade. Great entry, Thanks!

Nice! I really enjoyed the experience. The art style is gorgeous, great work there! The music is awesome too, I liked the seamless/dynamic transitions between sections. My only criticism on that front is that the music during the worm section was a bit high energy and didn't quite match the setting, but everything else fit perfectly. I definitely jammed out on the end screen for a while :D Great work!

Very nice!! Relaxing game, its a delight playing it, as said above very good graphics and sound, specially the soundtrack! The worm is soft, its movement is so wormy xD, the fish and the bird are not as good though but overall good amusing experience!

Nice work! Congratulations!

Pretty fun stuff, would have been nice to see other objects, perhaps some enemies to avoid/interact with. Audio was nice, liked the music and the devlopemnt of the player was great. Good work.

Best jam game I have played yet! It was a very nice change of pace from the action-y games i've been playing. The graphics were beautiful, and the music was very nice. 5 stars across the board!

Very original entry. Originally I thought that an antagonistic force would contribute to the playability, but after going through the game I think it would clash with the mood. I very much like the little environment interaction touches, and how everything (graphics, music, gameplay) fits together.

Good Music, Nice Mood, Interesting play on the Theme, Great graphics and very innovative, but the controls were quite horrid (but only for the worm.) It was good overall, but I would have like to see turning with left and right and going forward with the worm and gravity with the bird.

I thought this was perfect for the theme, and the mood was great. I overall liked the artwork and the music. For such a simple no pressure exploration game, it was pretty fun. The end confused me until it zoomed out which was a nice feeling.

Really good entry, solid gameplay, right mood and nailed the theme!

It was fun to play and see the little twists, the only thing I missed was a little bit of variation between the "levels". But you know, 72h is hard to do that. Congrats !

- It wasn't immediately clear to me the game had started, but having the credits as an intro is very clever.
- Love the motion of the worm squeezing through narrow spaces.
- The transitions were unexpected and wonderful. Loved playing as different creatures. The ending is perfect!

Very lovely, relaxing game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
