Baseball Nightmare by Amazura

[raw]
made by Amazura for LD 41 (JAM)

This is my first time participate in ludum dare. This theme a bit unique i think. As my last decision i combine Sport and Horror genres (weird isn't it). Joining in ludum dare event is really fun and i got much experience during this event. Yea.. just let's get into it.

You created a menu with a button that reads, "You need this." lol That's awesome. I liked your models and animations. You picked a tough mix but I can see where you were going with it (I picked golf and robots myself :)

Very cute game. I love the main character's model and animations. His lil slippers are so cute!

The baseball pitch is very bright and colorful. It would be really cool to see what the game would be like if it was dark and misty/rainy.

High score 47, I was quite happy with that. I would have liked the response to be abit quicker. Maybe you can reduce the cooldown between hits, and rather spawn enemies quicker if the game would be too easy otherwise.
Music was fitting, main character model and animation was also well done. I kind of liked that you don't really need to read the whole story before just jumping into the action. Game seems to be missing an exit button. All in all creative story and well executed!

Nice art, and the game has a great atmosphere. I like the core mechanic but it does start to feel impossible after a minute or so! Great work!

Looks good, especially the characters are very well done. I also liked the little backstory. It's a pity Jhony dies in the end. Or maybe there is a hidden ending if you get past a certain score? That would be cool. 😉

Really like the art in the menus, the gameplay feels like it needs another layer. I don't feel like I'm making interesting choices with what I'm doing.

the history its really cool. i'm curious to know what happens next, but i think its impossible to kill 100 enemies, so... could you tell me hahaha. good job anyway!!!

Interesting concept. I found that sometimes aiming with the mouse felt a bit 'off' there wasn't a lot of feedback telling me when I hit an enemy, some sort of trail would help with making the ball easier to see. I liked the visuals and audio, all fit quite nicely together, good UI too.

The pacing needs to be improved, one second there's 1 or 2 guys and the next there are 20 or 30. The game gets too difficult too quickly and suffers from "This game get's impossible to win at this point" syndrome. As @Aditya Shukla mentioned, some power-ups would have helped in keeping the game interesting.

Otherwise, a good looking game that needs some more polish in the game play aspect to make it something truly special.

I didn't read the story but I wish you would have turned into a little comic strip or something. A really long wall of text will often be skipped so if you really wanted to tell a story you could benefit from visual storytelling!
I really liked the atmosphere and the artstyle, it reminded me of Inside.
The gameplay was fun but the character seemed too unresponsive, I got a bit frustrated there.

I really liked the athmosphere of the game ! But the game is too "driven" in the fact that there is too many anemies to kill them all and to survive more than a certain number of kills, it not actually require skill. But the game could be really fun I think. I really enjoyed the music and the art is really cool !

Nice one :) Keep coding :)

Hey! Love the low poly art and animations! LD41 was my first gamejam too, what did you think of it? It helped you? I learned a LOT and I wish to do more jams in the future. Keep up the good work! :)

Hey! i liked how well the whole game mood feels.
As a tiny detaill, i had truble about discovering how i should really start playing, at first i thought that i had to wait till the zombies get to me (even after reading the controls n stuff) mby a change on the mouse arrow or indicating that you have to click on the targets in order to shoot could be a nice add!

The 3D models are really cool and the general idea/story is great. For a first jam this is definitely good :) I had some issues with the clicking(character shooting bur not rotating or just not shooting at all) and the difficuty seemed to ramp up pretty fast. But overall, great work!

Pretty impressive work for one person and first Ludum Dare on top of that! It would be nice, if the shooting was faster and more dynamic, as it was really hard to keep up with the zombies. I almost never missed, but it was hard for me to get above 25 no matter what I did.:( But I enjoyed it greatly!

Super cool game for a first jam and alone, I liked the mood ; the music was a bit repetitive and I had a feel that it lacks a feedback when you press click... (the animation is here but take time) But I'm confused as it could break the mood mmmmh ; good art and game overall, I'll look forward to your next ludum ! c:

The mood is very well done! The music is very simple but quite efficient for the mood. And the story make you a litle bit scared. And, I think the enemies go too much fast because my best record is 6. ^^

Good game and gg because it was your first LD and you had a lot of text to write while you don't speak english very well^^

Interesting. Nice mood and atmosphere, although, I wish the response was a bit faster. It takes the character so long to hit a baseball and kill a zombie.

The story was ok, but it was't too engaging, and I found a few spelling/ grammar mistakes in it. I'm guessing English isn't your first language?

Liked the setting and the story, it helped to give the game a very special tone. But I think the text that explains it is way too long. I spent more time reading it that actually playing. Maybe you could make it shorter or merging it into gameplay.

Thanks for all feedback, @Flameo326 write the story at 2 AM + tired and sleepy  so it affect the spelling and yea I'm Asian. @latrabili-noctu I currently working on visual for the story and it bit shorter than this one  . anyway Thanks for playing!

The atmosphere is very well rendered. Love the character's animation, smoke effect and the scene set! The music is a bit repetitive but it's ok for the scary and uncomfortable expression. I think it would be much cooler if there are more elements or variants. Currently it seems too soon to get swarmed by 'zombies' (or whatever they are).

Nice game! I enjoyed the music and the look of enemies. I would have just liked a bit more of responsiveness of the bat, at times I'm not sure if cooldown is locking the attack yet or not. Besides that, the animation is cool, as well as the scenery. Good work.

This is a great game, love the graphics, the music, the theme. Simple but yet effective too.
It felt like a real little game.
It would have been great if we could hit the ball faster because at one point too many enemies come at you and you can't do anything about that.
Nicely done !

Game looks great (especially for a game created in such short amount of time)! Gameplay too basic, but that can (and will?) be fixed, right?

Decent action, but I wish I could either attack faster or could at least see a better cue of when my attack was ready. The controls worked fine, and the fail state - hands aloft, evaporating into the ether - was a nice detail instead of just printing "you lost" printed across the screen.

Very impressive for a jam game, but I can't help but feel like the baseball theme could be expanded upon. For example, if the zombies came from only one direction and you had to successfully hit a pitched ball to attack them or something? Just a thought for how it might be made more unique, (as it is he might as well have a gun, if you get where I'm coming from.) Love the graphics and mood though, and overall quite fun!

Graphics are good add to the mood with the fog and mist around the ghosts. Like people said gameplay too basic it doesnt feel like two genre but just a shooter with a baseball skin. Anyway good work.

The graphics are very nice and the mood embraces me tightly. Although I think it was too much of one genre and not that much of the other of the mix.
