BeMused: The Block-Swapping Paint-em-up

I would recommend going through the paintings until you find a relatively easy one - Mona Lisa or the Girl with the Pearl Earring are both excellent firsts!

Game Genres: Bejeweled Clone & Painting game

This game is based on a long legacy of silly, short-burst Ludum Dare games with arbitrary rating systems.

Use the mouse to play. The timer will start when you swap your first block.

I'd love to see your attempts - tweet screenshots at @dixonary !

Well, this is what I call being original. Challenging but fun. Love the combination of puzzle and art. Great job :)

This turned out really neat. Love the arbitrary rating system. Would like an option to continue playing after the timer, just to see my masterpiece to it's finish!

Gotta say, this is the first of such odd mash-ups I've come across. So, kudos for the original idea! My Mona Lisa ended up looking like complete crap after the timer ran out, but, it was fun to try to recreate the painting. That said, I would have loved to see what the 'correct/ideal' paintings are supposed to look like after I get done with my attempt to paint them. Well done!

Excellent job! I really loved this, it actually solved problems a friend had when trying to make his own "art game". Huge thumbs up!

Found it very relaxing eventhough my first attempts were not really accurate :) Easy to get lost in time with this one. You made a really original game and I would be glad to see some expansion :P Great work!

Did you make the music?
🎤 Dixonary
26. Apr 2018 · 20:35 UTC
@LucasMolina It's classical music by Mozart and Chopin which has been in the public domain for a long time. :)

Maybe you shouldn't be rated on Audio then. Just a suggestion.

It was fun!, not sure if I did well or poorly LOL. Great music choice and art, well done :)

@LucasMolina it's a reasonable point.

I'm not expecting to do well in the Audio category anyway in terms of the competition. But Audio design (not specifically the music, but the overall audio production) is something I would like to get better at and it's nice to find out how well / not-well i'm doing at that, so the ratings are useful for me. if (by some fluke) I do quite well in that category then i'll ask Mike to N/A my rank after the fact. :)

For the same reason that I'm not opting out of "graphics" despite using "third-party" artworks.

That was fun. Great idea, and very well executed. I could see something like this doing well on phones using the players photo album as the image source. Good stuff :8ball:

Most unique game I have yet seen. It's way too challenging for me though. Great game overall.

This game was so relaxing, stressful at the same time. Relaxing becouse moving the colors around to fit the painting felt great but stressful becouse the timer put me in a hurry each time I played. It is such an unusual game and I really liked that. Nice concept and great job!

Neat idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrYzQfgK9hU

Great game to relax. It would be interesting at the end to make an effect by joining both sides. You could put some schematic tips. Congratulations for the game.

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.
