A lot of stuff isn't as clear as we wanted and I couldn't quite figure out how to properly explain the gameplay for the first level. So if you're having trouble here is a walkthrough of the first level.

LEVEL 1 WALKTHROUGH

You want to make the Red clothed person, an Admin, happy enough to give you the key to the supply room.
1. As you start the game you see that you can ask about the stapler. The stapler icon showing up above you means you can ask about it.

2. If you get closer to the supply room (room directly right of your starting position) you will see that it is locked and you need the key. You should see the same popup as the stapler.

3. To make the Admin happy, talk to the 5 characters that are three color blocks like you. (You can see them in the first screenshot. Two on the first floor, three on the second. To Talk, press the E key near them. You do not actually need to select any buttons for them. They unfortunately don't have anything useful to say. Just interacting is sufficient.

4. When you have talked to all five of them the Admin will be happy enough. Walk up to the admin and Press E. Then select the Key symbol. This will unlock the supply room.

5. Walk into the supply room and grab the Red Stapler as shown to you earlier. (Press E near it.) Note that items you need don't have an obvious tell besides matching a conversation icon. You should level up and be able to take the elevator to a higher floor.

6. Good Luck!

Basic Hints:
* Talk to people after you are told about a new conversation item. Not everybody will talk about everything.
* Try and make people happier or sadder through conversations.
* Keep an eye out for items that match conversation pieces.
* Some Conversation icons are unlocked through proximity. Some through Conversation.

Love it, neat game, neat concept, nice graphics. Well done. Game is a bit obtuse though, had to sort of guess my way up (just like in real life ;)

Really like the art style, though I couldn't quite wrap my head around the gameplay - could have done with a tiny bit more instruction.

Really awesome work! I couldn't yet figure out how to get pass the 6th floor, though. The graphics are well done and all in all it's really nice game. :)

Liked the art and the idea. Couldn't guess what I had to do. It was hard to understand what was happening.

Very well done. There was definitely a fair amount of guess and check going on. I managed to get to the fifth floor and got stuck, nothing seemed to do anything at that point. Awesome idea!

Really nice art. Concept seems good enough, but is NOT self-explanatory. There should be some sort of tutorial.

I got to the 6th floor and that was as far as I could go. Loved the idea though. Very entertaining.

A very interesting entry! Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out exactly how to finish it (I got to floor six), but I can see what kind of thing the game is going for. I just think it's a really great take on the theme, especially with how the character graphic changes along with the promotions: it's as if he's literally turning from a 'nobody' to the face of the company.

Well done; you guys should be proud. I'm sure you'll be able to make things as clear as you wanted if you choose to develop it further!

Cool game but more instruction in-game would be helpful :)

Good job! As others have said, the game is confusing at first. I, like many others, got stuck on level 6. I walked around and talked to everyone I could find and tried to pick up everything, but to no avail. I liked every moment of climbing my way up to floor 6.
