Bump Quest 6 by Siactro

[raw]
made by Siactro for LD 41 (JAM)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFH51JcsoVQ Drive around in a hovering bumper car and destroy monsters and castles in order to restore peace to the mighty kingdom of somewhere! Bump Quest 6 is a mix between RPG and the Bumper Car Simulation genre... Okay to be fair: it started as a mix between a Racing Game and an RPG but got a bit sidetracked down the line. I hope you find some joy in my silly little game :)

EDIT: Uploaded an updated "AfterJam V1.1" version for both Windows and Linux.

  • Controls are improved and a lot easier to handle now.

  • Jump is slightly higher and easier to use

  • Mountaindungeon is easier to reach now and does not involve any more jumping

  • Added a soundeffect for the magical... cube... things...

I enjoyed this voxel look but it kind of was hard to control the car even when I thought I had it under my control and trying to climb up a wall but 2 secs later it had his own mind. Anyways was fun though up until this wall ;)

The game is really cool and all, but it's REALLY HARD to control and that took most of the fun out of it for me. Despite that I still gave it a pretty good rating.

this game is fun and graphics are pretty nice. sadly there is no objectives , score or timer for challenging with.

The voxel style looks awesome. It is a bit hard to control which is not a bad thing, but it flips over very easily.

Really fun game. I wasn't really sure what to do at first and it is really hard to control the vehicle, but in the end it was fun. :)
If you had some time, feel free to rate our game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/shoot-n-hockey

Like the concept but the controls are very frustrating.

The game was hilarious and had some petty cool effects, especially when you won. I loved the wackiness but agree with the others that the controls are way out of control, to the point where it's somewhat frustrating. Great job though!

Despite the controls, i had a really great time playing this game ! Just fooling around and trying to combo by smashing voxels and the mechanic that allow you to rebounce against a pixel is particulary pleasant.
I have this feeling that the genre mix could have even been sandbox/bumper cars, or something like that !
Well it would have been gta i suppose haha
Very neat graphics, and i couldn't resist but to dance in front of that 80s music. Gotta dig this medieval/neon rpg style ! xD
Good job !

Hahahaha, this was so fun! I love the music, everything fits so well together! I thought the sensitivity was a little to high tho, besides that I'm impressed. This game made me realize that destroying things is so satisfying!

Thank you so much for this experience and good luck in the future! Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

The voxel feel is nice, but the controls were hard and the objective was a bit unclear.

Thanks a lot for the nice words you guys! :D Really appreciate it! <3 So far it became rather clear that the car controls need a lot of work and are just too hard / too loose and that the game's objective simply isn't clear. :) Shouldn't have messed around with both so late in development I guess! x) Will absolutely update those things after the jam! Thanks again to you all! :) <3 PS: @dudum-lare : Woaah thanks a bunch! <3 I hope you have an awesome day too! :D

This was definitely the most fun game I've played so far! The graphics, sounds and especially the soundtrack set such an awesomely wacky mood I could only enjoy myself to the max. :D Agreed, the controls are a bit tricky, but apart from that a freaking great job!

Woah, thanks a lot @juutis. :D That really means a lot! <3 And thanks again to all you other guys. I uploaded an updated "AfterJam" version with improved controls and a few other tiny things. I hope it gets rid of the annyoing controls! :) Also I left the original jam version still up of course!

I played the original version. Although I agree the controls are abit hard, I think it was pretty manageble. Kind of like you are controlling a boat. I liked the style and crash effects. I would liked to have an overview of stuff I needed to collect to "win". In the future, maybe new places will be unlocked once you get what you need. I was not sure how to quit the game, so I simply killed it. Maybe there was a menu that I did not find. Good job on the game!

I played the original version, but I still won. I loved the jamming tune, and the nice finale that rewarded me for completing the entire bump quest! This was charming. My wife wondered why I was battling blue hershey kisses so I got to explain to her about slimes.

Yeah the controls were a little hard to handle, but it was also kind of a crazy sort of fun to be out of control and bounce-smashing into everything and trying to plan my movement.

Cool little game that's heavy on charm, nice work.

I really liked the music and the graphism. The controls are fun but quite impossible to understand ^^' I know you made it better in the second version but I am evaluating the LD one, you know. I really like the effort made in the animation of the breaks of the walls.

Great job, keep coding :)
