Due to complications this is a proof of concept at best. There are many issues/bugs remaining, we will try to improve the game post-jam.

When I tried to play, at first I didn't realize I needed to fight the second player and couldn't figure out why the villagers would not stop mating and die. As death, I tried pressing K to attack, but nothing happened. Eventually I realized that I needed to fight Life, but then everything became very confusing. Death seemed to have an advantage and was able to kill Life more easily than Life could kill Death. Once life was down, I could go into the love nest. Introduce some disease and wipe out all the people, however this took some time and because it was delayed I didn't realize that I had caused their deaths. With all of the humans running around, it became very hard to see Life making the game more challenging that it needed to be. I'm not sure why we had to fight each other. The game could have been good if we had just been running around healing or killing in a tug-of-war balance, but as it was I was setting myself up to have an advantage. It didn't feel fair; it didn't feel fun. I'm not sure what the win condition was, life won the first time when we couldn't figure that we needed to kill each other. Death won the second time, even when there was some gold on the bar on the top of the screen. Was the goal to reduce the golden bar to zero?
I am glad that you made a multiplayer game. I hope that you get a chance to work out the bugs and increase the intuitiveness of gameplay.
