Gaia by PowerSpark

The world is still young... you must assist Gaia to help her transform and grow.
~~The physics are rough, apologies.~~ (Should be mostly fixed now, and getting pushed out of the walls when you clip through them is intentional.) Please leave feedback, thanks!
Some movement will be awkward

The art style and heavy feeling of Gaia's steps are really cool. The music is simple and fitting. I like it!
You should definitely add a warning to the main post that the game is very addictive. :)
Really nice.
I like the visuals that identify the barriers to movement. It's like the ones in VR games, and gives a clear indication of where you're meant to be.
The music's so chill, and the Gaia/earth creature looks great. :)
The first level with coins was fairly challenging, but I did manage to make the end. :D
Good job!
Everyone else, thank you and great feedback! Helps a lot :grinning:
The ending was pretty good. I suppose you were aiming at a creation myth background and I think you pulled it off quite nicely, although it took me a while to realize there is actually something happening here.
Gameplay wise, I liked the mechanics, and you spend some effort in introducing them in an organic way, but it took me a while to figure out you were supposed to call back the clouds and use them as spring boards.
The puzzles were well-conceived, but for the difficulty you chose, I think the controls should have been tighter. This is actually my only real complaint. Sometimes was dragged up through platforms, and that little jump at the end of landing was a bit annoying. So it became a bit frustrating towards the end.
Overall a very solid entry. I had fun.
Physics seemed a bit weird sometimes (one level I got stuck in a wall and was pushed into the ending) but it was still playable.
I enjoyed the puzzles, they were really well designed.
Cloud pushing seemed a bit inconsistent. It made for some interesting puzzles, but the time pressure was a bit too much. It could be made a bit better if the barrier on the left was removed.
The art style is great and the using the concept of gaia was very clever.
For me, the difficulty is a little too high.
Nice entry!
The only thing in terms of design I don't understand is the restarting. Is it really necessary?
Because it breaks the flow and the text pulled me out of the mood.
My only complaint would be that the puzzles were a bit too confusing sometimes! (Not completly sure how I had to beat the lvls). Also, there was one level that on finishing it seemed to be repeating itself forever (Maybe it was the last one).
ALl in all, It's a very nice entry! Great job!
Keep up the hard work! :)
Cheers
Even though I did have a bit of trouble figuring out the objective and didn't get very far in the game, I felt it was complete and done well. Very impressive for a 48-hour comp game.
Well done, thanks for sharing!
Congrats on the compo!
But I liked the overall mood of the game, unfortunately I got stuck at the level with the creates, I just cant get to the second create, this game is really hard !
I liked the ending though, perhaps seeing the other animals somewhere in the levels (maybe finding or releasing them?) would be nice. Good job!
Timing makes it hard, especially just after the the beginning - on the next level after the one introducing restart i got stuck *so* many times it was almost annoying :) But that's something only extensive playtesting could deal with, so not a compo issue.
But that's something you can work out. For the time being, game has a good feel to it, music is fitting, art is nice, and the mechanic itself seems thought out, although I expect you had your share of troubles while making it :)
**what could be improved if you will be updating**:
- overall movement: probably something to do with physics, byt the camera seems to flicker/shake a bit
- timing on levels: this *will* require quite a bit of playtesting.
- variety (obvious, if the game would be longer in the end)
- restart mechanic: maybe an auto restart, or death mechanic? Something to think about :)
Very solid compo entry, and quite polished at that. Cheers!
The mechanics were ok, with some interesting puzzles, but the controls/cloud mechanic did not feel intuitive to me.
The concept of riding across the skies on a large flying beast was very compelling!
>Jumping in the clouds.
>Pushing, pulling, jumping high.
>Find the road ahead.
