It clearly combined two dif genres yet never felt like it was forced. This should definitely be developed further to add a little depth. It took me a second to catch on that I had to hit enter first, to scroll thru what my commander was telling me, then input commands. some ideas to add a little depth immediately might be to have some of your peasants get attacked while working ie, your peasants returned with X gold and x peasants. You lost y peasants. Something like that. There is TONS of potential. Like first having to turn peasants into knights before they can attack. Once I got the hang of it, I just grew my army exponentially. Send em all out to recruit, send em all out to gather, and soon you are unstoppable. A little balancing to avoid that wouldn't hurt. Maybe some sort of happiness meter where if they are overworked a certain percentage will revolt or betray you and join the barron, thus increasing HIS forces and weakening yours. Punishing you a bit for doing exactly what I did. When you go to attack, there should be a line telling you how much it costs per guy and how much gold you have available. I got a little frustrated trying to attack with all my guys until I lowered the amount of attackers and figured out it was 10 per guy. Mind you its all just ideas to develop it further. With recruiting, it is almost trivial to build up forces in the hundreds of thousands.\n\nHowever, it is a solid basis for a game, and the imbalance is not actually my primary complaint.\n\nBy far, the thing I found most annoying was several deficiencies in the command line interface. First, sometimes I would enter commands when the game was expecting me to press enter to advance a line of text, and then I would have to re-type those commands. Second, the game would say things like \"you don't have enough men\" or \"you don't have enough gold,\" but wouldn't tell me how many men or gold I did have or, at the very least, needed. Finally, when upgrading, the game will not tell you that you don't have enough gold until you've already chosen the number of workers, which is really annoying.\n\nBut I did play for something like 40 minutes, so I did have fun.","likes":1,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":["ld41\/81317-5fa9c9d826d83f4784a7a9564ec624ea.png"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/articulated9.itch.io\/a-tale-of-two-towers","text":"Windows"},{"url":"https:\/\/articulated9.itch.io\/a-tale-of-two-towers","text":"Windows"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"38958","g_author":"1011360","g_event":"LD41","g_eventkey":"72","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"222146","g_title":"A Tale of Two Towers","g_status":"USEAR3","g_place":"488","g_commentcount":"37","g_site2_node_id":"81317","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"81317","n_urlkey":"222146","n_parent":"73256","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/41\/a-tale-of-two-towers","n_slug":"a-tale-of-two-towers","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"jam","n_author":"11360","n_created":"1524140880","n_modified":"1524772957","n_version":"278688","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":81317,"parent":73256,"superparent":9,"author":11360,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"jam","published":"2018-04-23T09:46:58Z","created":"2018-04-19T12:28:00Z","modified":"2018-04-26T20:02:37Z","version":278688,"slug":"a-tale-of-two-towers","name":"A Tale of Two Towers","body":"____________________________________________________________________________________________________________\n#### Changelog:\n\n - Added zip file download link.\n - Added speed control!
