Watched the jam on twitter mostly, then found some time, about 3 hours... messed with webaudio trying to get microphone stuff working. Ugh... Then stackgl particles (cool, but too complex for the remaining hour... Last 40 switched to canvas... Did something resembling a game.

npm install canvas-fit
With budo/browserify (npm install -g browserify budo)
budo --open --live rainbowsnake.js
Be harsh, or not, I can deal, I realize it's a quick tiny project and doesn't deserve to win.

I think it's cute! :) I like it when there are really many dots, flashing synchronously :D

Updated the source link (1 line to fix collisions), didn't update the playable version on itch in interest of the deadline. Still not much of a game without a win/lose state.

At least you managed to submit something in the end so I'd say that's a win any day :) Anyway, the game is actually quite fun and I liked the flashy/trippy/seizure enducing effects.

I really enjoyed it - theres a core mechanic hiding there which needs more exploration

You at least submitted, I think it might have been better to skip the compo and do the jam. My first ludum dare game was also unfinished and didn't really have much game play or goal.

I liked the movement of the three thingies quite a bit, definitely the start of a cool mechanic =)

So sad that you couldn't finish it. A death system could just be enough to add some value to the gameplay (like a moving thing to avoid or something like that). Continue like this, the concept was cool!

Needs that fail state. The undulating character was a bit confusing

Updated the itch version a few hours ago (collision and visual patch). Yes, needs a win/lose state. Thanks for the comments!

You've got something going on in here, I definitely think you should develop this further to see how it goes. :)

needed a little more to go on really, some in game explanation of the what, why and how of it all

The visual is somehow attractive, and overall it's a pretty cool experiment for a project made in such a short amount of time! It obviously lacks some audio and an explanation/objective for this jam but.. I feel like you're onto something, and you could transform this proto into something glorious! Maybe a game like Flow could do the trick, or a drawing game, or a much more ambitious game based on this "character" (I love its movements!).
