Sheeps Empire by net3ton

[raw]
made by net3ton for LD 43 (COMPO)

Defend black-boss sheep at any cost. Shield it with bodyguard white sheeps from pure evil red sheeps.

Sheeps are cute, but silly. They are not troopers, you can't order them directly. But they are curious and can be attracted by the flag!

Note that it says #LD34 (not 43) in your intro :D I made it to level 7! Good job, I love how they move! :)

Really great game! took a while to understand what youre supposed to do, but when I did it was really fun! although sometimes my sheep seems to get stuck in places they shouldn't.

It's a nice concept with a really good interpretation of the theme. I liked the art and general style of it though some music or sheep sound effects could've added to it (a simple beep on bfxr would have sufficed). I only really had one issue and that's that sometimes I felt like I had little control of the movement of my sheep, I know that the sheep being a bit herd-like is a part of the game but sometimes the herd would just stop or begin dividing. I'm not sure if that's a bug or intentional. Otherwise I really liked the simplicity of this game, not too complicated and quite a bit of fun :).

This is awesome!! I love how with a basic concept you create a strategic game with sheeps. Art is simple but cute and it works. The theme implementation is perfect. No complains here. Good job with it!!

I love games with a swarming behaviour mechanic! Simple and fun, you did a great job here. Are the lighter areas of the map harder to traverse? I noticed some curious behaviour sometimes where they slowed down in places. Anyway, great work!

That was a surprisingly fun! Super basic concept, but you have to be smart about it

Wow, @pcmaster thanks! I've really messed it up with #LD34 =)

Many thanks! I've really spent almost all time working on sheeps behaviour. I’ve been interested in flock simulation for some time, so decided to do something with sheeps flock for this LD. I'm very glad It worked out =)

Current logic is: when you place the flag, it attracts only nearest sheep (and sheeps in some circle around it) and other sheeps move by flock behaviour only. So, year, sometimes it seems that they don't react on flag, but some sheep definitely do and maybe it just too distant to others, so they don't follow it or follow it slowly. Or it's just a bug =)

@arkiruthis, no, background is fully decorative, but randomly generated for every run =)

Hilarious game! I'm lovin' it! It could use some background music or something like that, but overall, thank you, net3ton, very cool!

interesting game play, was hard to move the black sheep compared to the rest and it would eventually end up outside the group. Could have used some music.

Haha, love it!! Definitely the best game I've played as yet! Love the idea, graphics and sound effects. Could do with some more features but not that important since the current game is already addictive and exciting to play!

Fun, and I liked the idea! Think that some music would have made it even better, but it is nice as it is!

I love this idea! Execution was well done too. Music would have been nice, but regardless this is a damn good submission.

Great idea and implementation. In my opinion it would be better to make the game faster. And it is really impossible to keep any strategy. But overall it's a nice game. Good job :)

Very simple game mechanics. Love the art. As @adroitconceptions mentioned the blacksheep eventually was left outside the sheep-circle and died. Otherwise a great entry!

Good pick on the theme, I didn't get too far on the charts though. Liked the simplicity of graphics. Nice job

Neat little concept. I found it quite tricky to get the white ones to block the red sheep when they were on the wrong side.

Nice job, very hard at first but got fast how to block

Very nice use of flock behavior. Straightforward, and kudos for using Defold.

Got on the leaderboards with a respectable score of 23. Probably could have scored more highly if I had known about the flag affecting sheep differently based on proximity. Maybe say something about that in your description or game instructions?

Awesome entry! I loved the shadow-effect that you did to give the game some depth. Those details matter a lot! And leader board was a great idea since it is nice way to engange someone to play more!
