Not candy crush by eptwalabha

[raw]
made by eptwalabha for LD 40 (JAM)

What is it?

Simple color-form based puzzle.
Each time you solve a puzzle, a new rule is added… the more there is, the worse it is.

This game only have 7 levels… I might add some more later

Post Ludum Dare

I'm still working on the game, so please rate me on the version I've submitted for the jam and not on the ongoing version.
In case you want to check the code on Gitub, please use the version tagged v1.0 as it corresponds to the submitted game.

You can find the post-ld version at this address here, please do not use this version to evaluate/rate my work!. Use the HTML5 link in the section Downloads and Links below.

What next?

This is the list of things I still need to do before calling this one a «complete» game:

  • add menus
  • improve of visual feedback on the pieces done
  • add more levels introducing the different mechanics of the game done
  • have at least 20-30 more levels
  • add a new game mode (from friend's idea)
  • saves
  • add animation at end of puzzle (right now it just jumps to the next one)
  • add a level generator.
  • add new rules.

I'll try to update the ongoing version frequently.

Wow! This is an absolutely amazing game! The puzzle is super fun and difficult. I got stuck on the second level haha But it was really fun

Surprisingly elaborate puzzle mechanics! Got stuck at Black Sheep, though.

Neat puzzle game. Only complaint is that there was no delay between solving the last requirement and going the next puzzle.

Very addictive! I wasn't going to play originally since I'm personally up to here with all the Candy Crush clones. But so glad I did because this game is a blast! Like Sudoku but with emoji. Great job with the expressions and emergent gameplay. You opted out of the audio voting, but honestly I think the lack of sound makes it that much more immersive (like doing a logic or crossword puzzle). Awesome job!

Just my kind of game; Hard puzzle

In fact it was too hard for me at the start; i couldn't get past the 2nd level at first, but as I learned the quirks I kept going.

It took me a while to realize you can drag them anywhere at first idk y.

Nice and original game! I liked your application of the theme and I found the game quite interesting, with the different levels and rules you have to achieve, although you have to keep working on difficulty. And for your description, it looks like you want to continue with the development and I encorauge you to do it :muscle:

I really liked the concept of the rules overlapping - it reminded me of the card game Fluxx. If I were to offer some improvements it would be to add a bit more game feel to it. Have the characters slide across into their new position - add a satisfying sliding sound effect. The game could also do with some calming background music.

Did you know about the parable of the polygons? Nice version of it as a puzzle.

@notpresident35 this is the correct submission page… it's the link on the **post ludum-dare**'s section that you should not use to rate me…

That was really interesting to play, though I will admit the level jump the moment all the rules were fulfilled was a little jarring.
Quite a clever puzzle game!

Really cool idea and well put-together levels (though the random level was unsolvable in an easily fixable way: It told me to put 5 red squares next to every red circle but there was only one red square) Nice game overall

So far this's the best puzzle game I've played in the jam.

It's a bit weird that the Black Sheep is actually harder than most of the later levels (if not the hardest). I also have to agree that the auto continue is a bit jarring, especially because it skips the adorable happy animation and on the last level I didn't get to see the final rule.
