Upload.jpg

Fallen down a dark dungeon, you have to struggle to get back to light. Amazing graphics, never seen before. 60fps and more even on the worst PC or pocket calculator. Hardest flashlight survival game, you've ever not seen.

BUT CAREFUL: The more companions you get in this unknown world, the harder it is to keep them in line.

Controls

default: Up = Jump, Down = Crawl, Left = Walk left, Right = Walk right.

in conversations: Up = Yes, Down = No

in harmony fights: Up, Down, Left, Right are different sounds. Try to find the right ones.

IF YOU RUN AGAINST OBSTACLES ("OUCH") TRY TO JUMP OVER THEM OR CRAWL.

Close with Alt+F4 (Win) or CMD+Q (Mac)

Nice concept, the only problem is the lack of a Tutorial. Great graphics !

I thought the game hadn't loaded at first. FYI to future players: audio is required. This reminds me of Dark Echo, except without the luxury of seeing footsteps haha. The sound effects are good. The game was kind of frustrating TBH. I didn't know if I was getting closer or farther from the light.

Thanks :D.. we hope the game can be played by try and error. It is dark and you have to find a way out of a dungeon you have fallen into. You can walk, jump and crawl around obstacles. A little tip: Basically you have to go right :D.

It is our first submitted LD game and we are quite the noobs :).

Thanks for your tips @tvance. The last days I thought so much about story and how to put it together, that I did not tell anyone to turn their speakers on :). I fixed that now.

First of all: After the start (i actually didn't know if the game started or not) and after i found the first companion, this game actually was fun. I do like the idea of the "fighting"system (even though i dont understand how you can lose, i actually tried to unbalance the group but it didn't work). I also like the idea of the speaking health-meter. But a lot of "functions" should have been explained beforehand. For example the Yes/No System or that you can go further after you got attacked. But over all, it was quite fun to play!

Very nice concept, feels like I'm in a blind-simulation or something... Except for the fact that I keep dying and respawning (I think!). Would've liked some more enlightenment (hehe) on what to do!

Very interesting concept, but I think I'm dying over and over right now ! The fall scared the sh** out of me I'll admit it. Graphics are a solid 5/7 ;)

Hi @maxwell: Yeah we just did not have enough time for the polishing. If you hear an "ouch" you are not dead, you just ran against an obstacle :D. You can jump over it or crawl under it. @chuchugeralt: In the end the game turned into a story driven walking simulator :). I think it is really hard to die at all. We had story for two other tribes under ground and some of it is already recorded, but there just wasn't enough time for implementing. The harmony game just really starts to make sense when you are walking with at least 2 or 3 other tribes in your party.

Modest Gameplay that fits the narrative. I am impressed by the wellworking K.I. Mood and graphics were the best parts. Thumps up for a cool project.

So I have to go through this game blind... literally.

I got the hang of it pretty quick- it's like an interactive audiobook. The idea of stumbling into a strange, sound-based society is really cool, especially how they resolve differences with harmony. I wanted to keep discovering more about this society. Overall, very nice and inspiring.

@furet thank you, you get our idea. We ran out of time and couldn't get our harmony minigame and the "blind obstacle avoidance" finished. Especially the minigame should have had 4 different melodies, one for each tribe under ground. And then you have to finish and fill in these melodies that get quicker the more disharmony there is. The more companions you have that follow you the more often they get in a fight with each other. On the other hand each companion can sense a different kind of threat, because each tribe is either good in smelling, touch sense, hearing or tasting. :)

It wouldn't run.

My OS: Windows
Computer is a Mac with really good specs.
I was trying to play the WEB version and I heard some sounds but no visual and nothing happened. :(

@jack-maxwell Thanks for trying out our game. You are not supposed to see anything. Just try to move (to the right) and jump or crawl when you can not go further. ;)

Intriguing game, even now I can't understand what's happening but the atmosphere is interesting. Great audio and voices.

a very unique entry. I've never played a game entirely in the dark. Now i've seen it all. -err, heard it all.

I got past first conversation and battle. But I have no idea how I really navigated the world. I would have needed some warning or information about the coming of obstacles and how to get past them. And possibly making the world simpler, at least the early bits. For the conversation and fights I also didn't really know what I was doing. But I was enjoying myself. Still I think that with a bit more hand-holding for the player it would be more fun and immersive. The start game difficulty in how much the player had to understand and have a feel for the game was probably more balanced for end-game difficulty.

Haha, interesting entry. Really make you think about how much you take your vision for granted. I'd love to see this expanded on. The harmony fights game me some real LOOM vibes.

The audio really sells the experience here. Great job!

Man, I almost jumped out of the chair when the game finished loading and heard the scream for the first time! Hahaha, Overall I found it to be a very cool concept with texcellent audio production values, but it took me a while to get a grip of the controls and the vocal reactions. Maybe a bit of speech reforcing the players actions or objectives would have been great for an easier experience. Obviously there was probably no time in a jam entry, but would love to see a more complete version ;)

Oh my god, this was unexpected and great. I have played 2 or 3 games where you navigate only by using sound, (couple of them were interesting, horror and adventure), and your game does it good. The concept of unusual interface fits really good in a humorous game about travelling through unusual place. "To be continued" and "7 health points left" were hilarious.

If you are planning to continue your game, I suggest explaining your controls in-game, but probably not making it too obvious? Also I haven't figured out how battles work. Maybe you'd like to give a player some more trial and error without risk of losing a battle?
Thank you for making your game, folks!

I only got a black screen, 3 sounds playing. Not sure if that’s how it should work.
I think it might be a technicla problem with the Mac Version. Therfore I didn’t rate it.

@wakka2 The black screen is desired, because you are in a dark dungeon :).. you should hear a scream at first and then after a while you should hear your steps when pressing left and right. Have you tried the WebGL version too?

This was nice, and something different, even if a little unfinished. I enjoyed the voice work and traveling from one culture into another. A few things seemed to not work, for example it didn't seem to matter what notes I answered the melody with, and when the guy asked me if it was okay to leave and I said yes, he said okay bye but was still present in the following scene. Actually I was glad he was there though, and the incompleteness did not get in the way of this being something unique.

Nice work, especially for a first Ludum Dare!
