The graphics are awesome and the game idea is great!
I think if there are some more feedback(awards/punishment) when players touch the wall or finish the counter-attack, then this game can be more interesting. Or just simply set up a target score for players!
Otherwise, I think the current game mechanism may lead some players to just dodging all the blocks.🤣

@GoldRanger Noted! We are trying to add in more features in the experimental build which will provide better UX as you suggested! Our bodies and brains are literally melting at this point so it might take some time before that comes out 😁

Nice idea and fun presentation, loved the trail effect when you rotate. The difficulty scaling seemed a bit off though, it would suddenly go from almost nothing happening to bullet hell? (also, bug report?: it might have just been my PC, but the controls were a bit laggy - if you hold down a direction, it would continue for a fraction of a second after releasing the key?)

@bluescrn Thanks for letting us know! We will definitely adjust the difficulty curve in a future build. As for the "bug", I think it is caused by the poor optimization in the jam build (I'm assuming you downloaded that one). My apologies for the laggy controls and burning your CPU :p

@Mektidas The 0.1.0 version is the event version. I re-uploaded it yesterday with a convenient exe file to make everyone's life a bit easier :). Thanks for letting us know. We have updated the names to make it more obvious.

Well done! It seemed really polished (stuff like cursor icon etc. goes a mile imho). I'm not sure what math you used for rotating the object but it made the game a bit more interesting to me. God damn the glitching boundary though, got me every time (like, "hey me it's a nice piece of floating thing that you can pick u... NOPE I'M TOUCHING THE BOUNDARY SO IF YOU PICK ME UP YOU DIE"). Thanks for the submission!

A super interesting entry, but it gets so hard so fast. I really dig the aesthetic, though. Nice work!

Looks great, after a few deaths I was able to get the hang of it. Love the concept, art and music. well done.

I like the concept/music/graphics but I dont see a way to download a version of the game that was uploaded before the deadline.

Also the bubble wrap was a fun extra.

Wow, so pretty! So so so pretty. Sound and the overall mood are great too. Everything feels very juicy. I couldn't get the hang of the gameplay though. One time I survived a while and blocks stopped spawning, so I just ran into the edge and scored 130, which left me confused. And do the red bullets count as destroying blocks? I wasn't sure. Also after a while somehow all the buttons on the console stopped working, pressing them did nothing. I can't seem to reproduce it though. I found the mouse turning awkward - I always expect to be able to turn around 360 degrees. I also had the same frustration gyfis did. Anyways, I had some issues playing, maybe it's just me though. I still had fun though, and the juicy graphics and sound are top notch!

@Lost Dutchman Software SO GLAD you enjoyed the bubble wrap! Actually a lot of work went into that one (mostly optimization). I re-uploaded a convenient exe version after the deadline (instead of the raw, messy build that you get by default from Unity) to make installation and orginization a bit easier. So it might appear like we cheated (●'◡'●).

@patrickgh3 Thanks for all the feedback! We are still working on the balance of the game. Also we are improving the game's feedback. I have no idea why the button stopped working though... One more thing to investigate! As of the mouse turning.. it's a design decison we argued about. We actually had a another control scheme where you r block always faces wherever your cursor is but our designer cut it out due to some gameplay issue.

Thanks everyone for the input! Happy jaming!

Yay a Mac version! I love all the personality in this - from this being a DOPE on itchio, to the whole retro Nintendo jammin vibe I'm getting - it's super cool. I love all the polish and small details too; the animations of the buttons, the particles in the background, the trail effects. 10/10 am using the pepe console, you know it. If you ever do something similar but more finalized, I'd recommend a How to play section or something like that because I had to experiment with the controls before realizing it was WASD to move and mouse to rotate. Anyways, really fun to play; hope I see yall make more awesome stuff!

You crushed the graphics and theme portion, for sure. My only feedback is that the rotations are a little too fast to be precise. It's really missing that last-moment Tetris "jiggle" that gives you a chance to pop things into place before they sink in. Beyond that... game jam gold!

@Angela He Glad you liked the Pepe console!
We always run out of time to do the How to Play section (it's never been our strong suit😂). Thanks for reminding us. We'll add it in the next update for sure!

@ted Thanks for the kind words! we totally forgot to add a sensitivity option ughhh sorry about that. It's now on our to-do list!

Win32:Malware-gen

I just tried downloading the First download (top of the list, Windows) My virus scanner marked this as Win32:Malware-gen. It seems a generic threat, that could easily be a false positive, but for obvious reasons, I won't be trying this game

Great game!
Good graphics, good audio, good gameplay
The only thing i would complain about is the movement. Seems like rotation is smooth and free, while movement has a fixed distance for the input, making the block "slide" too much. I think both should use the same approach.

Made sense?

@Dan Violet Sagmiller We're working on this issue right now. Unfortunately this is a very common issue with packed exe files and we can't find a nice solution yet. Thanks for bringing it up, we know now that this is a much more serious issue than we had thought.

@Aszu Thanks you SOO much for the feedback. Without you telling us we would never have noticed that it was an issue! We'll fix it in the next patch. And yes that totally made sense😁. It woudl be great if you could let us know which version (old or new) you downloaded so we can see if this is more of a optimization or a design issue.

More than solid entry!! Fun and innovative gameplay, really good music (that's rare for a ldjam game) and incredible overall polish (that's rare too haha)

It was kind of hard to understand how to play at first (okay I didn't read your post), but then I loved the few rounds I played.

Great great work .o/

Really great entry - the core gameplay loop is really cool and fun. I adore the visuals and you picked some amazing tracks to go along with it.

Nitpicks/suggestions:
* more player feedback would be nice in regards to the bullethell parts of the game. If could tell in advance which blocks will fire projectiles and in what patterns, it would mean I could a plan in advance a bit better
* I still don't get when/why the camera sometimes zooms in
* when the player picks up a lot of blocks, the camera could be even more zoomed out (in the current version I had to stay at the bottom and hope a bunch of projectiles would appear)
* the rotation controls are weird
* twin-stick controls would probably make me play it even longer

I usually don't shill my game when commenting, but since it's arcady and bullethelly as well, I'd appreciate it if you [gave it a shot](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/super-dashball), especially the multiplayer mode.

@SecretPocketCat That was quite a detailed feedback. Thanks so much! The zooming in and out was intentional (maybe we overdid it...). We're constantly arguing about the control scheme so I guess we'll only be able to pick the best one after some suggestions *shrug

I'm actually visiting my cousin tonight so it's a perfect time to play your multiplayer game!

Nice work! The visuals were phenomenal, and communicated the mood of the game very well! I found the gameplay itself somewhat confusing and difficult to pull off, but still enjoyed it. If I were to give any advice, I would use the scroll-wheel to rotate the user, instead of just moving the mouse. Otherwise, good job! You made a really fun game!

Great concept! Visuals and graphics were illuminating and very eye-catching. The gameplay is simple yet very fun. WHen you try to rotate, instead doing a full 360 rotation in one direction, it rotates the other way once it reaches a cut-off, this was a tad annoying. Addressing this will take the game a bit [feather](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/motherducker)!

I was revisiting some of my ratings and I forgot to rate yours after leaving the comment. (I usually try to sum up my suggestions and gather my thoughts before rating and then this happens...) I'm glad I noticed and the error has been rectified.

The rotation seems to be taken from the mouse position, but without being converted into world coordinates (so screen coordinates), at least it feels like that.

Also, where can I find the awesome 'jazzy' track? (I've checked the tracks mentioned on your itch page and I'm currently downloading the massive music pack but I'm afraid I won't be able to find it in there...)

BTW. my top score is now 476, which is, funnily enough, exactly 100 higher than my previous best.

@SecretPocketCat Ayyye that control scheme was fixed thanks to you. All the tracks are listed here.
![musix.PNG](///raw/014/3/z/14cd5.png)
I believe the "jazzy" one you are talking about is one of the first three tracks. The GDC music pack is pretty nice. It's got a lot of ambient sound effects and some useful small clips, but it doesn't have any compositions in there. I hope you find it useful!

No worries, the same thing happened to me, possibly even twice and I still sometimes get bugs 'cause of local vs world positions...

Actually, I meant this track
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTajM_nH1E0

Also, I found a new tiny bug (feature?) - bullets are removed on pause (you can see it happen at the very start of the video and then around 8 secs ).

13. May 2018 · 10:31 UTC
@SecretPocketCat Ahahaha we'll say it's a feature for now😂 I found it hilarious to watch. I just realized I forgot to include that track on the itch page. That's my bad. I've updated the page, and the song's name is Sumber by Glass Boy. Man you have been super helpful I have to include you in the Special Thanks section. Many thanks for all the support!

Glad to be of sevice, your game deserves it anyway. Plus you managed to find the time to play mine in multiplayer, so I owe you one anyway
