Rokku Bando by Yanrishatum

[raw]
made by Yanrishatum for LD 40 (JAM)

"If you perform well enough, a spirit of music will appear to join and guide you".

Well, it does sound a bit fishy, but why not? The theater is almost empty anyway.

You could even call some friends on the stage. The more musicians there are in the band, the easier it must be to summon the spirit, right?

...right?

  • Use [space] + [q][w][e][r] or arrows to hit the notes.
  • Lose hearts on miss, gain hearts on 3x perfect hit.
  • Aim for the golden hearts to summon the music spirit!
  • Embrace the rhythm! And tentacles.
  • Play in browser!

Love the graphics, but the level seems a little repetitive... Anyway, nice game

Score 05127. Liked the graphics. BUT THE MUSIC OF DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS SOUNDS DETUNE. I don't know if it was my browser's problem

Good to see a rhythm game where the input actually matches the music (which is pretty nice). Also nice pixel art. The normal mode was a bit to easy, but other than that great game.

Thank you for your report @fangzhangmnm, we'll look into it.

I think the build up of the difficulty and music as well was a too slow. Or at least to repetetive. Wisehd for some shanges in the drums for example. Got better later on. Also some of the arrowkeys were'nt put exactly in line which is a little bit confusing.
The sync of the buttons though was really good and i liked the graphics really much. Great Band playing the music :D also cool composition in the whole a great attempt on making a game in the style of guitar hero but directing the whole rock band. Good job.

Slick, polished. Tune was a little repetitive, but sold work overall. Enjoy the rest of LD!

I am really bad to the rythm game, but I had fun on this one !

Game graphic looks great also music is enjoyable to a certain point at the end there are too many instruments that do not match each other

@serval-games, I guess it corresponds to the theme: more instruments don't always mean better performance :)
Nevertheless, thank you for the feedback. Next time we'll be sure to tune and combine tracks more seamlessly.

Definitely one of the best entries I played so far. The music was a bit to "spacy" for me, but the graphics made up for it. Well done!

I am super bad at this game, but I still had a lot fun playing it. And the music was really good. Well done.

Really nice entry. Graphics were polished and being able to change between qwer and arrow keys was nice. The song used was well done, but it felt like it dragged a bit in the beginning on both normal and hard.

This is a real gem. It's great! It really stretches the theme, but does so in an interesting way. Loved the music as well :)

I really suck at rhythm games, but I enjoyed this anyway, it's got a great look and a great sound, and I liked the build up.

Really amazing pixel art! the music and controls goes together, it only need more variety on the music, and MAYBE re-organize the keys, I think Space at bottom it's better imo. anyway, Great game!

nice graphics and well executed rhythm game. i feel likei would have enjoyed the visual progression more had i been able to take my eyes from the notes but the occassional risky glance helped make the changes feel more special because of the risk.

As far as I can proceed this is a very nice rythme game, though I hadn't seen very much innovation here. But I like it. I like the pixel art very much, the music also fits it. I suppose you mean the more instruments you have the busy you are, so that fits the them too. It's challenging for me. Maybe more positive feedback could be expected when I hit the key at the very right moment.

Cute graphics, although feels they are a bit wasted because you always have to look at the bottom to see what to press so you cannot really appreciate them, trying to press 3 arrow keys at the same time is a bit tricky. Music was ok, touch repetitive but good enough. Rhythm games are usually pretty fun and this was no exception. Had fun

I liked the aesthetics and I think the implementation of the mechanics of time was good with the control by the keyboard. I felt a little lack of some more feedback when hit or miss ... Good game!

Gostei da estética e acho que a implementação da mecânica de tempo ficou boa com o controle pelo teclado. Senti um pouco de falta de algum feedback maior quando acerto ou erro... Bom jogo! :flag_br:

Cute little rhythm game. Difficulty was a bit weird in that it was either a bit too easy and repetitive or very hard... also some of the harder notes did not seem to correspond that well with the music playing. Music is OK. It's a good base though, would definitely want to play an expanded version!

Nice tight game with cool art/style and music.

First few games I was pressing the QWERT buttons but nothing happened... realized I had to hit space for that red line, and also that I had to click the QWERT input option.

I got 5275 on the easy mode. I was on top of things thanks to the steady pairing of QE, and I could handlle three things... space, R, and some QE. Once W was added to the mix I started falling apart.

Nice progression of difficulty for one long play-through altho it was maybe a bit slow for repeated plays. Tough to make it work well on my first play and my third or fourth. I tried hardmode but got pretty wrecked by it after the longish intro phase of bass and drum.

I appreciated that I could see near-hits vs hits, that was a nice touch. The art of the band itself was cool but I could only steal the occasional glance, unfortunately.

Nice entry!

A rythm game, original entry for this jam and it fits perfectly to the theme. Some more variations perhaps could be welcome. Anyway, good job and music / graphics are awesome !
