Move and Hide by Hizrok

A little story behind the game

I had a lot of trouble with this theme so I made the first idea that came to mind. I chose turn-based stealth game and after a day I realised that it's not really incompatible, but by this point I could't start working on something new.

player2.pngYou don't really have any big goals in this game. The main goal is to get to the door on the other side of the level and that's it.

This game was more like a challange to finish the game more than make the game super good with audio and good graphics. It's something that I can always look down to and tell my self let's do better this time...

Even though the game is quite small I still hope you're gonna enjoy my 3 level's filled of bugs.

And that's it - Move and Hide

Move - WASD Wait a turn - Space

Short game ^^ Nice concept, but I think the gameplay can be improved ! Also, it lacks music and sounds.

Keep coding :)

The concept is nice, but the execution could have benefited from better coding and more time haha ! Nice effort all in all, you can be proud of you.

Congrats on completing LD41! This is a nice short game. It could do with some sounds and more levels, I wanted to play a little bit more!

@bar0net Sounds and music are on my TODO list for the next Ludum Dare. I made a mistake with the levels. I started making them close to the dead line and I couldn't make more. Anyways thanks for playing and feedback 🙂

I want to praise your effort for your first entry. I hope you had a blast. Even though it was short, the levels were nicely done and most importantly the game was fun. I enjoyed the graphics.

@microwerx Thanks I stayed late for the dead line to finish the game. I am glad my effort wasn't for nothing. Thanks for the feedback!

@Selbryn Sorry I don't know how to do that. I will add that to my TODO list for Ludum Dare aswell.

Was fairly easy to pick up and try, got the hang of it with a few moments of fiddling, turn based stealth aren't exactly incompatible but good job, it'd be quite an enjoyable game given a few more levels

Fun little game, although I wish it was a bit longer. Enemy vision cones would go a long way too I think. Btw, love the hiding in bush graphic. :D

In the level where I have to press H to hack, and the guy gets angry when I do and starts to chase me, he just stood in front of the door that I hacked and I could walk through him. His vision for spotting me broke.

The first two levels where a bit useless in my eyes, but at Level 3 there was some nice gameplay showing through. I think, if you could do some more interesting levels, it could actually turn out a fun game!

Nice first try although somewhat short. There's so much to exploit here but this way you can get notion of how much you can do with certain time given.
Keep on!

As a fellow first-time game jammer, I can totally relate to the idea of not being able to put everything that you wanted into a game. Move and Hide could use a bunch of things, more levels and mechanics, better graphics, sound etc. But guess what the core loop of the game is very interesting and nicely implemented. You followed the theme and made something interesting that at least few people enjoyed. You also managed to create something with a lot of potential, an idea that you can go back to once you get more skilled at developing games.

I'm sure that just like me you've learned a lot and now you'd be able to make this kind of game three times faster. That's why I can't wait to play your next jam creation. Great job!

Well done for your first Ludum Dare entry. I like that you have to think about every step you take, it makes for a interesting puzzle game. Turn-based + stealth is not incompatible but it makes for unexpected behaviour which is what this theme is all about.

Level design could be improved but they worked well to introduce the player to the mechanics. It took a few attempts to understand why I died and how to avoid it by hiding in the bush.

Overall, good effort and I hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare

Short and sweet turn-based stealth game, could be a little longer and have more mechanics but it's fine!
Good work :)

Nice concept! Though it is a little bit hard to understand but I managed to figure out something and complete the three levels. Level 2 is whied as I didn't get why sometimes it would die and retry, but level 3 is interesting!! Hope for a polished one with more levels!

This is a nice first Ludum Dare game!
I like the levels being self-explicative: you get to understand how it works by trying them.

I think you could have built other levels with increasing difficulty, over the base of these three levels, and this is great, it means you have a game that deserves improvement!

A lot of successful games, like Rocket League, take a simple concept and implement a fascinating twist - you definitely nailed that formula for success while nailing the jam's theme. The game is very fun to play albeit short. With more mechanics and a more fleshed out story, I definitely see this being a retail release. All and all, very cool for what's there!

Really cool for a first ludum entry, especially compo. Lovely turn-based stealth system, I enjoyed playing it.

It's a pity you can not finish your first project. I hope to see you on LD42 with a game that makes you feel proud!
