Morlandia is a throwback text-based RPG made by people with very little understanding of game development. Walk about in a forest and fulfill your revenge without the need for any visuals or audio!

  • Play in-browser with WebGL: http://unfected.me/morlandia/index.html

  • Here is the .exe version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-bUcNpkpIjqTEozdnVlS3JSOHM

  • And here are the project files: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-bUcNpkpIjqNVV5eFJJNzg1Qzg

Now, get out there and explore life through nothing but vague text.

I love text adventures, so mad props for even attempting to do one in a game jam, I got to the end and became a ruthless ruler :P

I liked the flavor text that displays in some scenes, very whimsical.

I'd have liked for some ways to interact with other stuff in scenes, exploring the world is one of my favorite things to do in text adventures. Also the unknown one was so. far. away, I typed "go east" like 40 times in a row, not sure if I missed any other command, if I did they werent obvious. Also on the topic of repeating, usually up arrow would repeat the last command, which would help in this case.

Anyways, I really liked the presentation, and some scenes were very evocative, others were funny, I'd recommend shrinking the world size or adding other interest to the journey, still I repeat mad props for doing a text adventure they hold a special place for me.

This was really cool! Like previous commentators, I think it would be cool if there was something to do other than move around. The flavor text did make for an enjoyable experience. I did notice some bugs regarding extra spaces at the beginning and end of commands. If you trim the string before trying interpreting it they wouldn't be a problem.

I would love to see more text adventures in ludum dare. This one could benefit from more actual content, though the randomly-grabbed snippets were fun. Maybe if they contained more clues, this would be a more satisfying little maze. Looking forward to seeing what you produce in the future if you have more time to invest!

I walked around for a while. Without a sense of what commands there are (if there are any, I think 'enter cave' once worked, but it did the same thing 'south' would've done), it started feeling a little futile. Text adventures really need a solid hook to keep me interested.

Super interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
