Occult Defence Agency Budgeting Simulator by Zarkonnen

[raw]
made by Zarkonnen for LD 43 (JAM)

Your organisation is in charge of defending the United Kingdom from paranormal threats. Vampire covens, stray werewolves, pixie swarms, cultists with funny robes and impractical daggers, unlicensed hauntings, and more obscure matters.

None of that makes it immune to budget cuts, however.

What consequences will BREXIT have upon relations with EUROCC!? It's worrying!

@worai I know! I've written to my MP, but I only received a form letter reply.

@lucien-catonnet There are seven outcomes in total: one good outcome, four apocalyptic ones, and two ambiguous ones.

On my second attempt, I defeated the Ghost King! After that, it made me make some more cuts and then went to what seemed to be an ending screen saying "No more cuts!", was anticlimactic after reading about the ghost king battle, having to make more cuts and then suddenly ending.

Quite enjoyed this!

You had me at "Turn the prophet centre into a profit centre" Top notch writing, very dry and witty

I love the idea! The game itself is pretty well done and the idea and story are hilarious, but it is quite confusing. I like the idea of many divisions of your organization but the scrolling becomes a bit tedious. A sorting system would help. The game is also quite buggy, selecting the items when scrolled all the way to the bottom results in the buttons drinking several oil tankers of coffee. However the game makes up for all this in it's funny story and amazing concept. Good job!

it only lacks animations and sound feed back to make a success. Because your entry is an experience very original and interesting. in any case I appreciated.

Lovely concept. I really liked the whole presentation and feel of it. It's simple but it works really well. Only thing I'd change is reducing max budget a bit more, I could afford so many things that my decisions didn't feel as meaningful.

This was such an enjoyable play. I didn't think I would get so stuck reading everything, but I did. Great writing!

This was really fun and within the theme. From all the games of the jam, this felt like I was making the hardest choices, especially because the game is so responsive and detailled.
Great job!

Incredibly witty writing. Deadpan humor fits the setting and theme so well.

Excellent writing. Loved reading every bit. Everyone got cuts, except for the scrying department. The crystal balls will save us from the apocalypse, and I'll sell each and every book and property we own before them!
