[raw]
made by Priom for LD 40 (JAM)

Soul Warrior Merope - Soaring Soul is a resource management game in the guise of an infinite scrolling shoot 'em up. Manage your ships fuel, ammo and shields in order to make Merope's ship survive longer but be careful the more points you collect the faster enemies spawn and resource prices increase.

You can use the 1,2 and 3 keys on your keyboard as an alternative for the mouse.

Leave a rating if you have the time. Thanks

How it fits the theme : As your ship defeats enemies you collect points which you use to buy resources. The more points you have the faster enemies will spawn. Your fuel will also drop faster after you reach a certain amount.

## Praise

I really like the idea of managing the resources of the ship and letting the computer do the fighting. It was also pretty fun once I figured out what I was supposed to be doing.

## Suggestions

It is a little hard to understand at first. More feedback from the button presses along with a more interactive tutorial would solve that.

This game seems like it would be fun to play on mobile.

I really like the idea of balancing resources, as what would normally be considered 'the game' plays out on its own. Really fun!

A little complex to start, but a really interesting spin on the genre. I'd love to see this idea fleshed out outside the limits of the jam. Great job!

I liked the indirect control. I didn't like how crappy my pilot was! Where's the button to hire a new pilot. Nice small game that I would play for fun with a few more mechanics added in.

Nice idea. I think that it could be improved by showing the point earned when an enemy is killed.

Hey, I remember your game from GMTK Jam! Nice to see the return of Merope.
Will definitely try this one out when I boot into Windows tonight after work.

@terrapass oh hey cool, a person from gmtk and someone who actually remembers what I made too. Cool :D

I'm probably going to go to sleep soon so I'll give your game a go and give it a rating tomorrow too.

It's a cool game! It almost feels like playing a healer/buffer while the others do all the damage!

Nice game :) I like how the game works except of the times when my ship navigates itself into enemy projectile completely ignoring the shields :D

I liked the graphics and sounds a lot :)

Well done. The idea is pretty innovative, as far as I can tell, and, given the time constraints of the jam, I'd say you've managed to deliver on it pretty well.

The indications on the UI were not entirely clear to me at the beginning, like what is "P:-25 F:15". Now I understand those are the price and the amount of fuel per purchase. Also I would definitely make the ammo, fuel and other status indicators on the right sidebar stand out a bit more. They don't come across visually right off the bat as the key piece of information for a player to keep an eye on.

But I think these small problems can be fixed easily in future development. So good job and good luck with your game.

Gee, thank you all for all the insightful comments and ratings. I finally reached over 22 :)

Also I've taken the UI issues into account after all the comments. I wasn't really all that focused on it earlier since I was more focused with the gameplay but I can definitely see it's importance now.

Interesting concept, specially the indirect control of the ship by the ressources gestion that is very fun ! I am not sure that there was the need to add the increase of price as the points increase to this main mechanism. Good job !

Not bad! It's an interesting concept letting the ship do it's thing while you just manage it's resources. I'm not entirely sold on it, but I think it could be made fun with some tweaking. It felt a little bit too slow at first. Once I got the hang of it and the enemies started spawning more it became quite fun! Nice job :)
