Music is good as well!
And the game is hard as hell)
And idea is fit theme!
I've managed to complete 4 levels and further it's too hard for me./
Nice graphics but game has low level of polish.
The controls are pretty good, but could be better. Its quick and responsive, which is good, but I would have preferred if I could control the strength of the jump(holding down jump to jump longer), it was tough to control where I was jumping. There were also a lot of situations where I was unable to jump despite not falling, which could be annoying.
The level design was very good, I really had to think about how to solve different situations and plan my moves. One annoyance though was that it could be difficult to tell which branches I could jump on to, and exactly where the branch ended.
Physics could be better - I was unexpectedly sliding on branches.
It would be good to mark branches as game objects since it is not very clear that you can jump on them.
Music is good.
Good entry overall! Congrats team! :)
The game is too punishing for my taste, but it is just my personal opinion (I gave up @ first sliding sprore)
The physics collision/interaction could be visualized better imo, it's wasn't apparent to me that I could stand on leafless branches, and it's hard to see when a platform (branch) end.
From my personal experience it is always very easy for us - as creators - to perform tricky maneuvers in our own game because we're the one who made them: we know exactly where the colliders are and how they stand in relation with other pieces. But the players don't have any of that information and have to figure out the detail with trail and error - a process where "hard" and "frustrating" are only a hairline apart.
Indeed we're aware of quite a few problems in the game. It was our first time making a platformer and we had troubles getting the interaction between the character and the branches right The character slides on their slope, and won't jump on their end.
It was also the first time we were working with our graphists friends, and even though the game is graphically stunning (we developpers are not worthy of them!), we're aware that it can be a little confusing to know where you can stand or not.
The levels were designed and created in just a few hours at the end of the jam, and we lost one to my lack of saving files. In the future we'll try to spend more time on polishing them.
@savepoint: Thank you so much for trying to consider us as a highly paid team :D
On the developper team, most of us met during our master. We're all professional developpers, but completely amateur at making video games. This game jam especially we became well aware of how much we struggle with Unity and how much better we could do if we put time in between LudumDares to teach ourselves a little more about it.
The graphists are also professionals, but once again not at making video games. I think they loved participating in this LD's edition, and once again, they did an absolutely stunning job!
The art is amazing and I love the music. All in all, I think you did a very good job! Keep up the good work!
really cool entry. The graphics were superb, beautiful design! The audio is awesome and really fit the mood. The mechanics itself were really nice. But sadly the gameplay
has some problems. I think they could be easy fixed with a parala
x scrolling background, this would really help theorientation of the player. But I still think the gameplay
has lot of potential.
Overall awesome entry guys!
The difficulty of the levels was a bit off. Few parts were rather annoying than difficult. I didn't have much trouble with it, but you probably saw others struggling. You should always give your game to someone outside the team to playtest.
Overall it's a nice game. It actually looks like something that will have full release sooner or later.
