THEME: you are a bleedy demon, you can kill and sacrifice others to extend your lifespan, but at the same time, you can pay with your own life to gain checkpoints and exchange weapons.

CONTROLS: WASD/Arrows + spacebar/left-button. - left/right: horizontal move - up: jump - down: interact - spacebar/leftbutton: attack.

02/05/2019: Day two patch:

  • Bug: Fixed the jump, it was laggy, windup used frames instead of deltaTime.

  • Bug: Fixed projectile mechanic, it was delayed and not interacting properly with the environment.

  • Clarity: Fixed an ill-designed blind fall that caused instant death without prevention.

  • Clarity: Added more visual information for important places (altars and doors).

  • Clarity: The press any key at the introduction bounces

Love the art style of the environment, maybe the main character was a bit "out-of-world".

Liked the mechanics, they are well implemented, responsive.
Blood related mechanics were cool and fitting :slight_smile:

I quite liked the mechanics of collecting and controlling objects from the scene to the blood of the persogem. It makes you very cautious during gmaplay.

This game is really cool! :D The art direction is gorgeous, gameplay is cool and enjoyable, music rythm the game nicely,... The fire is just difficult to use... VERY NICE GAME!

I love the humor and the environment! There were some really cool interactions and I loved the way the character ran around. You should work on the jump mechanic, though. It doesn't feel very responsive because of the build-up. I think I'd prefer it to just immediately jump. Also, you should make a windows build as well, because it lags a bit on the browser. Otherwise, great game! It was fun to play and I loved getting a fireball to shoot around :D

Nice art work, i just think the character is way to fast and huge for the dungeon, but on overall amazing game

Game was impressive overall. Great atmosphere and retro look. One problem was that the fireballs did not break the cages for the blood and I was unable to progress due to bleeding out. Otherwise solid entry.

Awesome game, especially the self-explanatory tutorial! And graphics are really good. The only thing I found a little weird is the range of the attack. Might be a bit more consistent with a bigger hitbox :)

hey, thank you everybody for the kind feedback!
We had some time today, so we took the liberty of fixing the problems you mentioned.

@mister-ornicar, we reduced the fireball build-up animation length to make it more responsive

@flywolfe there was an issue with the jump that made it affected by framerate, we fixed that

@lurkinmcclerkin the fireballs not breaking cages was an idea from an early design that stict in, we removed that now (plus making the purple water region overall more forgiving)

@finnhax there was indeed a problem with the hitbox (not the player's one, but the large enemies instead), it should be better now.

I am not sure we have the right to submit an updated version, worst case we will push it online after the reviewing process is over. EDIT: it seems that fixes are acceptable according to the rules, so i pushed the changes.

Well done with the overall aesthetic. the sprite work is great and the controls where tight. Idk if you wanted this, but I was able to hit the switch at the end of the hallway and get to the next stage with the sword. It took a couple trys tho.

Very nice pixel platformer!
I really dig the artstyle and the mood of this game. It fits the theme quite well.
I think its nice that there are multiple weapons, which change the gameplay quite dramatically. That gives a really nice feeling of progression. The only problem for me, was that the enemycount gets really big after some deaths. At the end it was nearly impossible for me to get past them all.
Besides that, very solid entry, nice work!

The graphics and music were great! The platforming and game design were *fantastic*. I'm having such a good time! Going to play again.

The theme is excellent, and blood is a great currency. Tiny bit of critique: too many enemies sometimes! But it just wants me to play better.

Nice and responsive, the only thing that let it down a bit for me was the lack of polish on combat and the responsiveness of that, overall really good though!

Nice game. I dislike the underlying theme of hell, demons, blood and such, but mechanically the game is good.
The only issue I've found is that jumping is sometimes derping, which caused me to fall down in the instakill fluid (whatever that was) :smile: so I had to repeat this quite a lot. But all in all, it's fun to play.
