Solar defense by kpded

[raw]
made by kpded for LD 39 (COMPO)

In this game you should defend your base at the hostile planet with towers that consume energy from solar panels. But what if defense needed at night? Solar batteries are the answer.

Plan construction of your base carefully since you can't build everything at one time and remember about nights and local hostile fauna. If you run out of power no tower would save you. Defend your base for 3 days and your mission will be accomplished. Game made with phaser, all art made with inkscape, sound effects in ChipTone (http://sfbgames.com/chiptone) Hope you will enjoy my gameimage8712.pngimage8642.pngimage8540.png

the audio and graphics are basic, the theme is respected but this game is'nt fun, sorry. With more work this could be better.

Nice simple tower defense game. The biggest improvement would be the "game speed" button. I manage to survived to the 3rd day.

Nice game!

I finished the game and it was the right level of challenge (not too easy nor too dificult)
I liked the fact that you needed to build batteries to survive the night and the waves of enemies attacking.

Good job!

I really like tower defense games and this game has a very nice element to it with the solar energy. However, (even though i know we only had one weekend, i still need to say it) it just lacks a lot: maybe a money system, a clock, the energy should go down only when you actually shoot and not all the time when its night, maybe shoot lasers instead of some kinds of bullets? But all in all, well done for a game made in just a weekend! I did enjoy it, even with my criticism

While the presentation is simple I was able to identify the function of everything at first glance which is a plus. The restart button didn't work for me but that's a minor bug that can be fixed later. This game is exactly what you'd expect from a tower defense game given the theme.

This was a nice tower defense game, with the added energy theme. However I didn't feel much of a challenge or a drive to keep me going until day 4. While I think the simple graphics fit the game, I missed some background music to go with it. Overall it was fun :)

Really nice mechanics. Needs a little bit of polishing, but really fun to play.

Simple but nice. Would have been nice if one could speed up the game, because it takes some time to get to the third night. Had some troubles first until I understood that one needs to turn off the towers with left click in order to generate power properly. But after figuring it out everything went smoothly. Some more complexity would have been interesting, e.g. that a battery can only power surrounding towers or that solar panels need to be somehow connected to the battery to power the battery.

I like the concept (tower defense), but I couldn't tell whether I was turning towers on or off, or whether I was running out of power. The clicking felt unresponsive a lot of the time. Given the non-stop attacks there was no real time to figure out how best to build a base. I'd recommend three main changes: (1) a brief pause at the start to let the player get the hang of things, maybe with a countdown. (2) a different graphical indication for when a tower is on/off and powered/unpowered, and (3) some indication or countdown to show that construction is happening. I think the game has potential.

It took me a few tries to figure it out, but once I did, I really enjoyed your game. It was a nice twist on a tower defense game. Audio and graphics were basic, but got the job done. Very fun, I will play it again and try and last longer!

The game is really unforgiving. Maybe the first night could be a little easier to let the player see how much the batteries last.
The restart button doesn't work for me. On Chrome it gave me an error when I clicked it:

I think your game is good, and with some tweaks it could be a lot better!

I Recently played your game during a live stream at your request.

Crazy but this was my first ever tower defense type game! It was a lot of fun and well built. I almost died on the first night! Great entry and thanks for introducing me to a new genre of gaming.

if you haven't already please give my game a try [Zombie Power Station](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/zombie-power-station) HTML5 Thanks

I like it, but it could really use some ui work, it was difficult to figure out where to place the towers and whether they could shoot. But the core game play is fun!

It looks like I've fixed the "restart" button bug

If you see this problem please comment

Although the concept was good, there were a few bugs / features that made the game more difficult to play than it should have been.

* The build menu is pushed off the bottom of the screen, so building towers down there can't be done.

* There were also few indications about the state of the game. For instance, it wasn't possible to see what was consuming power, and how much power each building was consuming.

* The towers could not lead their targets, and it wasn't obvious what their range was.

Nice entry! I had some problems with the building, not knowing when the game would allow me to build again or how close is "too close". Day is almost boringly easy, nights... not so much.
