Escape From The bygone by sudojess

[raw]
made by sudojess for LD 38 (JAM)

Escape From The Bygone is a puzzle game disguised as a platformer. Complete each ruin to find your way off the planet!

WASD to move E to interact Space to jump

I fell ill on the first day, so the game is incomplete, there's one puzzle, once you've solved it you will see the blue ball, that's all there is. You can wander around the planet if you wish too.

It looks promising, yet very incomplete. I know the struggle when one takes a bit larger concept than one is able to handle (we did that last time, even though the game had deep mechanics, it felt somehow incomplete after few minutes of playing).

The graphics looks quite nice, lighting and the mood is there. Music fits quite well - so from art side it is quite solid. From the gameplay side ... well, camera controls are confusing, and the movement around the planet is broken (although way too many games got gravity wrong in 3D).

I do like the entry, yet it is very hard to put a verdict there - due to its incompleteness.

Congratulations on making the game. Even though just 1 puzzle, it is still a game! :)

The game have some great graphics and some very relaxing music. But I have no idea how to solve the puzzle, and the weird camera makes the game really difficult to play.

The 3D modeled character in the thumbnail caught my attention and the music is nice, if a bit repetitive.

But I'm not going to lie: It's very confusing. Perhaps because it's incomplete. I had no idea what the objective was at first and the puzzle is hard to understand.

The camera and movement work in a way that's not very intuitive and this makes it very hard to play. The weird jumping animation also caught my attention.

Granted, I can't blame anyone if people fell ill - in fact, taking that into consideration, you did well by making it into this point. Maybe the game was too complicated for what could be accomplished in the Jam's time.

Congratulations on your attempt though. Always keep in mind that, as long as you learn from your mistakes and make an effort, the next game will be better.

It's unfortunate you weren't able to get this completed, because it has a nice vibe, judging from the graphics and audio. I ran around a bit and looked at things and was interested, but just not able to figure out what I was supposed to do. Then I fell into a pit that I couldn't get out of. Keep trying!

This game looks great and the sound creates a great mood. It's a shame you fell ill as with a little more content and a few tweaks this would have been a really top notch entry. Great work though, this is still a fantastic submission, well done

Its a shame you got ill, I think you may have a nice idea here.

The control do feel very wonky, it is hard to orient oneself with the setu you have there. I tried to solve the puzzle but I couldn0t relate the symbols of the big pilar with the smaller ones. Then I wandered for a while and fell into the water.

It was interesrting to wandre aroun though. Even though ti was incomplete and had difficult controls it was a nice walk around with na nice feel and music :).

Sorry for your illness. The game is very moody, but the control was pretty confusing (especially when you turn around). It has a great potential.
