Cat Clicker by Mr.MadCat

-------Clarifications update-----
Since there seem to be some problems with the tutorial, here is some additional information in case you need it. You need to click on empty food bowl to refill them so your cat doesn't starve. Cats that die will lay down like sleeping and turn completely black. Sometimes they will still display a (zzz) like a sleeping cat. This is a bug, don't let it confuse you. You can't do much with those dead cats except for getting rid of the cadaver and maybe call an exorcist (lowest button on the right) to get rid of the ghosts (green transparent cats) if there are too many.
Also, you need to manually collect the reward from the quests by clicking the buttons in the quests menu.
-------Update end----------------
Play as a crazy cat lady on her endeavour to earn enough money to buy the ultimate cat suit. (It even has ears and a tail that will react to your emotions!) For only 75,000$! What a steal! And of course, the only way to earn money for any crazy cat lady worth her salt is: Breeding Cats!
Use the mouse to buy new cats, bowls to feed your cat, litter boxes and breeding boxes. You can clean litter boxes and fill bowls by clicking on them. Drag cats into the breeding box to breed them. You need one male (blue ribbon) and one female (red ribbon) to breed. Also your cats must not be satisfied, e.g. you must see a small heart above them. Drag happy cats to the sales box to sell them and earn money.
If you don't feed your cats or don't clean the toilets, they might die. That would be kind of mean. And you will have to click the corpses to remove them (eeewww, gross!) and that will cost some money as well. And their ghosts will haunt you. If you ever feel overrun by ghosts, you can call an excorcist to get rid of them. But it will be costly. (You deserve that for not caring properly for your cats.) Oh, and there are quests. Complete these to gain lots of money!
Oh, by the by, so much breeding produces genetic defects. you might sometimes get cats with black ribbons from breeding. You can neither sell nor breed these cats. That's what you get for so much incest.

First off: thank you for including an in-game tutorial! It goes a long way, particularly when you've reviewed a bunch of games and you just want to PLAY a game.
Nice scope - there's enough here to do and not so much that things feel janky.
And the music is the calming kind of stuff you'd like to hear when you're being overrun by cats.
Overall, nice!
I never got any black ribbon cats until the end. Luck?
I thought the game was really fun, feel like I was making money way too fast, within a minute 1 had over 50k and I didn't really have anything to spend it on. The house was a bit too big, and it was frustrating to move the camera (maybe a grab and pull system instead?). All and all it was really good.
Then I restarted and played and bred cats and cats and got flooded with catscatscatscatscatscatscats (breathe) catscatscatscatscatscatscats aaaaaaaaaaaaa sooo many cats and poop and cats too aaaaaaaaaa cats and I can't click on the achievement buttons because gotta clean the poop and feed the cats aaaaaaaaaaaaa sell clean breed clean feed sell feed sellsellsellsellsellsellsellsell aahh finally some free time to click on achievements. Then I won by clicking on all the achievements.
This game deserves a note as high as my stress level mid-game ! was fun :)
- I couldn't read the remaining achievements because I got kicked out of the game when winning ^^'
- Darn cats, always falling asleep the second you try to grab them !
@OmnomGuy That sounds really strange, sorry for the bug. What browser are you using? We only extensively tested using Firefox. We expected it to work fine across most browser since it is HTML5.
@BUNN1E5 Yeah, the camera scroll was in retrospective unecessary. At the time we thought a bigger room would be a good idea. But a grab and pull system would probably have worked better. Thanks for the tip.
@Chronodrax Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, sorry about that sudden kick out, we had planned on letting the player continue to play, but didn't have the time to implement that in the end.
Seems like a nice game thought.
The tutorial was a nice addition, as were the quests. They help to give the game a "real game" feel.
Well, that went about as well as expected. I do like me some "cookie clickers" sometimes, this was a unique spin on the concept. Felt like everything spiraled out of control a bit too fast, that could be the player partly to blame though...
1. The kittens are super cute. I like the sounds and animations. Also the "realistic" details (e.g. first eat, then poop, then sleep)
2. Great use of music, I especiallly liked the dramatic tension and the death music.
3. The quest system is a nice touch and keeps you active and thinking
I found a few things:
1. Map scrolling is annoying. I only used a small part, because even that was hard to keep track of, but I would constantly accidentally scroll off and it took me some time to figure out, how to get back. That's how my first cats died.
2. The game seems not to be sure about which sprite goes in front of which. I sometimes didn't see cats at all or got blinking issues.
3. The button collect reward is super unintuitive! I made 30 000 bucks before realising, I would have long won. If a quest is fulfilled, reward needs to come automatically
4. I didn't understand the incest part. I always bred with storebought cats and still got lots of genetic defects. Does it work by color? Or random?
I would have also wished for an endscreen, to make it feel less sudden.
Overall a great game! keep it going :)

This is awesome. How the game was pulled off felt very professional. That dramatic music REALLY made me panic haha.
It got intense pretty quickly though, so I didn't have enough time to think through the mechanics, like what coloured cats will come out with each mating combination, what is that black ribbon thingy and so on.
As for suggestions, maybe make it so that we can move things after buying them.
Edit: Yea I also got the problem where the cat died during tutorial, probably because I didn't fill the food bowl. Maybe you can look at my video and accurately pin-point why that happened. I think it's because I was too busy trying to understand the mechanics that I didn't realise I need to feed that cat again.
@Thijs-Tak The game is meant to be played at the fixed resolution, not fullscreen. We tested quite abit. In the beginning some buttons should be deactivatet to make the player follow the tutorial, but those should become usable when needed. Hm, maybe with a screenshot of the elemnts blocking the dialouge buttons I could find out what was going on there.
@LMB the green ghosts are from the dead cats, yeah. Cats die either because there is no clean litter box available or because there is no bowl with food. You need to click on the bowls to refill them. If a cat doesn't get food within a certain amount of time it will starve.
@DaniE Yeah, the incest part wasn't really implemented. We had planned on it, but in the end there simply is a very low probability (5%) that newly breeded cats will have a genetic defect.
@miaw Thanks a lot for making a let's play of our game. Yeah, I had originally planned to make the cats like immortal during the tutorial, but time ran out. I guess that is what happened to a lot of players.
Btw, if you rate our game and are not the member of your team who owns your game's page on this website, make sure to write the link to your game in your profile or in your comment, so that we can play and rate it (if you want us to ;) ). It appears that it is very difficult to find your game otherwise.
Writing it in your profile is probably best because it then everyone can find it and you don't have to write it in every comment :)
Other than that good job guys :)
Loved the humor and especially all the cat related puns. The childish giggling actually made me laugh :D
The quest rewards were maybe a bit too generous. Made it quite easy to get to 75k. Selling cats wasn't really a source of income and more for getting rid of the cats.
Great use of the music for indicating that you need to take care of something!
@Sibi Yeah, we increased the quest rewards heavily during playtesting. Maybe a little bit too much. ^^ On the other hand we wanted to make sure that one can finish the game in a reasonable time between 5-10 min.
Other than that, it was a cool and quite frantic experience. The intense music when cats were hungry was nice, but sometimes the tracks felt like they were clashing. Also, I got thru without a single dead/ghost cat so I must a cat god. Got a few inbreeds though...
Fun fact: While playing this game my real life cat decided to cough up a hairball and while I was cleaning it up almost all of my cats in the game died :joy:
