Slime, music and portals by VinegarLove

[raw]
made by VinegarLove for LD 44 (JAM)

Finally it's here.

We had a lot of stuff to finish, but it's still better than the last time :v:

It's a little platform game in pixel art (partially unfinished gameplay, music was finished in time). It's al little rough with one day off.

Anyway, enjoy the game and thanks again to @GnevCP for the awesome music and sfx. Hope to be here again next year

HTML5 Builds seems to work 50% of the time, please refresh the page or download the native executable on itch page below.

Was a bit bare bones and not very challenging, if you could make the monsters more responsive it would be a lot more fun.

I can only hear audio... The game screen is black. Do I need something to run it in my browser?

Nice little platformer! The music is nice, and I loved how the jumps change pitch randomly. There're a few bugs (you can't double jump some times, and you can fall the platform in the second level) but overall it looks nice.

@hubol it should be webgl 1.0
Anyway, on the itch links there are also files for the builds of each OS below the page.

@hubol I'm not sure actually what is causing that. It seems that sometimes it doesn't work, even for me.
Download the native build i guess.

@norris-eldridge Try the native builds below the ITCH page, or use firefox. Refreshing the page seems to work sometimes.
It seems to be an issue with the engine.

I really like the music and sound effects. This game was one of the chillest games I've played in this jam :)

While it's incomplete, I like the metroidvania nature of it. Maybe increase the amount of upgrades? Also the animations can use an upgrade. Nice work!

I only saw a black screen, the music sounds super good though, I just let it run in the bg for a while.
Let me know if the game will be fixed. The music makes me want more!

The music and art were soo good!
I wish there were more levels/monsters though, and on the yellow level I couldn't seem to find an ending, but that might just be me being dumb (^v^; )
Great art as well !!

@toasterbath Ah no worries, it's just unfinished. You have to take the double jump and stay on the higher ground.
If you go down there's no way back up. (I rushed the last hour sadly :) ).
The only things that are written in the end are "Thanks for playing, we'll be trying harder next year"

Gameplay is pretty barebone but I really like the music and the jump sound being integrated into it. It took me a while before I realized it was a sound effect and not part of the music track which was pretty cool.

Intriguing entry! The art and the audio really pulled me in. I love the jumping sound and how good it fits to the musical score. The rest of the mechanics were a bit too basic for my taste. Also, the fighting system felt very unsatisfying. The double jump felt rather unresponsive at first, but I got the hang of it after some tries.
When working with pixal art, I like it more when the pixels are clean and on a real pixel grid, that might just be my taste.

All in all a nice first concept that could be built upon. Keep up the good work!

Too bad it's unfinished. Could've been real nice entry.

The double jump is somewhat buggy. I couldn't consistently jump twice in a row with the same delay between jumps. Every time seems different.

Also, the sword does not seem to be necessary.

So all in all, the game has potential, but it obviously needs to get finished

But yeah, time constraints on LD, what can you do
