The art was great and the procedurally generated bullet drops were cool. The enemies bodies becoming the terrain was also good. I would have preferred a more snappy jump on the main character and I didn't like having to move in a direction to shoot in that direction (I know it's common in other games and I think it's just a personal preference). The shooting sound got a bit grating at time as well - especially on high rate of fire weapons. Overall, good job!

@rob-white Hey thanks for the valueable feedback and yes I understand your points and felt the same way for the most part. And I was planning to a story mode but considering the time, I stuck with procedural generation. For the guns I went with the Old "Contra" feel. And there were a few issues when I tried to make the jump a bit snappier but I do plan on working over it in future and have a proper animated story and character development for each of the enemies and such. But this is the best I could at the moment sticking to the time :')

had to agree with @rob-white , tighter control would be awesome, i like gameplay, simple yet fun, love the artwork, cartoony and colorful, and this hit the theme head on

Playing your game was definitely a fun time! The gameplay feels nice (particularly the guns and recoil effect) and comletely fits the theme. The art style is amazing and contrasts with the violence and dismemberments. 😋 The only thing lacking in my opinion is animations, but I know time is tight during the compo.

The graphics and music were amazing, and the gameplay was good too. My one complaint would be that you have to shoot in the same direction you are moving (though this is more of a personal preference thing).

Simple Cartoony art and theme is awesome. It plays good. And I really enjoyed this game. Especially procedurally generated bullet drops.

Great art! Though the animation could have really been upgraded to match. Initial impressions are good as the feedback is juicy and shaky, and I like the enemy bits that litter everywhere (though they don't do much besides being stood on - it could have been cool if they did more than that). Though after that first blush some issues show up:

- The movement and jump feels drifty
- Screenshake on every shot... Is probably excessive. Or it might be just the individual shakes are too hard/too long.
- Sometimes the enemies come at you from impossible angles, either from the air or because you're standing on a big pile of stuff and you can't get on their level to shoot them. While that's an opportunity to present a challenge, right now it's mostly just run away and hope you can run far enough that they get down low enough to turn around and shoot them. If an enemy come from the other side in the same way you're borked and can't do anything about it. Dead-end situations are not interesting.
- The shot sounds gets on your nerve.
- There's no reason to ever not shoot, unless you're annoyed by the sound. There's no risk/reward regarding not shooting. So you might as well just shoot all the time.
- Mouse controls feel unnecessary since you can't aim. Why not use a key?

The art is the best part here! Hope you work on more stuff to make that art really kick gameplay ass :)

Some notes while playing:
- I wish I could shoot in any direction or at least at 45 degrees
- the body parts sometimes fall off the screen instead of piling up
- im not entirely sure what the powerups do

Cool game, the shooting feels nice.

This's a cool idea but I think the difficulty can be harder. (probably give enemy more way to attack like bullet/dashing)
Now what I felt is only "don't block me! I can't reach the enemy!"
I think this can be a more strategy game!
Anyway, this's still a fun game and give me joy when killing enemy, good job!

Really nice visual style, I love the way enemies broke up when they died. I think there needed to be a bit more though to the gameplay, it seemed to devolve to, "hold mouse to win", maybe some ammo management? A shop with upgrades between waves? As @paden-shorey said being able to fire in more directions would have helped with those flying enemies. But I really love the artstyle and you should keep working on adding more content.

I really dig the style and makes me want to see them with animation. the shaking is too much, maybe smooth it out.
I don't really have anything to add that other people pointed out, it's a cool and simple game, job well done, with very pleasing graphics and design.

I love it! I wish the arena was smaller though, i never ran into the issue of the corpses getting in the way.

Bit slow to start, and I dont understand why the bodies drop after a wave. The room should be smaller so the bodies have a bigger effect. I loved the artstyle, and thought the body system was really good and really well implemented. (ps you should probably change the part on itch.io where it shows the controls. It says to use the arrow keys to move left and right. I was trying to figure out how to use 2 hands to do jumping, moving, and shooting)

the art is ok for what the game is. i got a few things about this that i believe could be improved. the first thing is with the theme. the level is so big, and after awhile the level automatically empties itself. so i didnt feel that the theme was used effectively here 100%. the power up system was nice, but i would have liked angle shooting. as ppl have mentioned earlier, the controls felt alittle wierd, and could be made faster. with the limited player precision some of the enemy fights were alot harder then they needed to be. the best thing to do in a game like this is give us full control of the character, with speed, and all angle shooting, then figure out the difficulty from there. with some more polish, and adjusting the theme to be overly dramatic with more gore and bodys piling up this game could be pretty good.

I'm not sure how the level is supposed to become filled with body parts with so few enemies, but it's a nice idea :)

Simple but fun.

Pieces of enemies littering the ground are great and funny.

I just have two points about the controls:

- Arrows + space is weird, it is necessary to play the fingers very spread out. with space, I would prefer WASD, with arrows, just key up...
- use mouse for a one direction shoot is weird too. A key on the keyboard would have been enough...

I enjoyed the game, however I do agry with what dunin said before, using the up key to jump and the space bar to shoot would be better controlls (i think).

Despite this, the music is great and I do enjoyed the graphisms :)

I like the cartoony art and design of the monsters.
Pros: Nice art and good gameplay idea.
Cons: Slow movement. And it would be cool if you could shoot to more direction, but maybe your intentions were different :)

Simple and fun game. I like the art and music too. I loved how enemy body parts stayed on the ground.

However, using mouse to aim would've been nicer (An alternative to this would be to use the keyboard to shoot by pressing spacebar or some other key). Also, I felt like the enemies were very few in numbers.

Simple graphics and simple gameplay, but yet an interesting game !
I really loved the fact that it dismember the monsters when you shoot at them !
The music is cool, not too calm, not too speedy, just right, tho as some people mentionned, the gun shots can be a bit annoying at the end, I think they are cool, just tone them done a little and it would do it ! :)

Nice game ! There is few improvments that can make the game better :
* Aiming with the mouse is more ergonomic instead of only shooting forward (or maybe you did it on purpose to add more difficulty)
* Make the corpses block the bullets and protect the monster
* When I played some monster were just passing below the corpse, would be better if they can't like the player (but maybe it's a bug or it was made on purpose)

The graphics and the music are nice :)

Awesome game! I survived 9 waves! I had a ton of fun blasting through waves of enemies as the room filled up with their corpses. Great job!

Well done overall, I would say though that as more and more enemies spawn, the rate at which they drop health powerups should decline as well. I eventually gave up when I had 27 health and was in no danger of dying anytime soon.

Really fluid gameplay. It's missing the depth but the controls felt pretty good. Only comment on them would be that since enemies can come from above it really needs some aim up functionality.

Nice game! I like style and art of it and also how body parts get everywhere! :P
But yeah, the screenshake gets a little bit too much. Same as with the bullet sound.

Had a good time chewing through some waves. Only being able to shoot in the direction I was moving was intensely frustrating given that left click was the way to shoot. I kept pointing the mouse in the opposite direction and of course nothing happened. Still, pretty pictures here, cool enemies, and I liked the parallax grey tree-bars.

The art is very cool, and the diferent bullets make it more interesting, but the controlls are a little bit wierd, I finded complicated to have to walk towards the enemys to be able to shot them. The soundeffect I think are a little bit too loud and high pitch. The idea of the game is very cool, have the bodys of the enemys take space, but the map is so big that if there are to much bodys you can go somewhere else, so it doent bother you.
I dont know if it is a bug but sometimes the bodys fell from the ground. Good game overall.
