Goo Patrol by starpixie

[raw]
made by starpixie for LD35 (JAM)
Goo Patrol is a roguelike Shoot-em up where your weapon configurations and even the ship you are using change from rapidly.

Your ship starts out weak, but attach weapons to your gooey hardpoints, or moprh into a new ship, and soon you'll be strong enough to fight the Goo Boss.

Use WASD to move, mouse to aim, left click to shoot, and hold the right mouse to jettison weapons.

On Android, there is a virtual dpad on the left and another on the right. Left side moves, right one aims and shoots.

Use Alt-F4 to quit the windows version.

Please play the Windows version for the best experience possible.

Android version requires Android 4.1.

Changelog:

1.01:

fixed wall glitch.
fixed movement glitch.

1.1:
made great improves to controls

removed 1.01 web entry due to crashes. all other 1.01 entries will stay to comply with jam rules, but 1.1 is much more fun.

Pretty fun shooter. Gets very satisfying once you start picking up extra weapons and becoming more powerful. Particularly liked the beam laser.

Unique controls for a shooter. Definitely fun once you get used to it.

I enjoyed the central mechanic of picking up parts. The controls felt a bit sluggish, though.

Very nice graphics and particle effects! I love upgrade systems in games, so the ship getting bigger and better hit right home for me, good job!

This is fun - some really good ideas in here. The controls were a bit tricky, but that added to the challenge. Nice artwork, especially the ship designs.

building an arsenal of weapons was fun. The controls were a little hard to get used to though.

Difficult but very enjoyable entry. It was fun to watch my ship get stronger while I blast away the slimes

Rather hard! Difficult to handle on a laptop though due to issues with touch pad+keyboard interaction!

Cool game. I really liked the controls and the weapons but found it a little annoying that I couldn't either adjust the rotation of the weapons easily or choose individual weapons to jettison. Having 2-4 beam weapons caused the sound to stack up which was kind of painful but it was worth it because the beam weapons were super rad. Overall very enjoyable.

Cool game. Liked how much different upgrade types there were.

Found the ship difficult to control. The physics based inertia combined with the relative controls (W = forward instead of up), made I want getting the hang of it.

Game crashed halfway through. Cool idea but it could have been way better with more attention to game feel. Make the bullets HUGE. Make the sound effects BASSY and POWERFUL. Screen shake on everything. Flashing and particles flying everywhere. Gameplay could have been faster in pace too- felt like I was shooting a baddie forever. It's a good basis and cool idea, just a few tweaks

I feel the laser is too powerful and it's making the game too easy in the beginning, but still good work, especially with the graphics

Cool game. I like the concept of attaching the weapons at new angle but it ended up hard to get the weapons pointing in the direction I wanted.

I was not expecting those controls, Which is funny because its actually more realistic to actual space flight (i actually just watch the Martian again, so it felt very topical.. I love the variety on display here, with the different powerups

Nice bullet hell game. Excellent ship animations and varied weapons/styles. Aiming can be a bit awkward while moving.

The concept of picking up parts and shapeshifting is quite nice and has potential! ;)

Really fun and it gets quite challenging when lots of enemies appear on screen! The ship's controls are really nice too (though it took a while to get used to them :P).

Nice work on the graphics and good choice on the sfx too! It really sets up some nice mood for the game! :)

Good work! :D

Great idea, but it really difficult to control the spaceship.
