Rude Bear ReRPG by alexrose
Rude Bear ReRPG is the 14th game in the core Rude Bear series (although technically the 18th Rude Bear universe game).
HOW TO PLAY (YOU SHOULD REALLY READ THIS):
The game uses a REALTIME, TURN BASED battle system. The faster you put in actions, the faster the thing goes. It's like Paper Mario except fully realtime. If you click defend at the exact right time, you take zero damage. You can play with any input method but realistically, PLAY WITH A CONTROLLER IF YOU WANT TO WIN.
THE GAME IS TOO HARD. I MADE IT TOO HARD. EVERY SINGLE BATTLE IS ITS OWN CHALLENGE. IT REQUIRES A NEW STRATEGY. PASS YOUR MP BETWEEN CHARACTERS. DEFEND ONE CHARACTER FROM DAMAGE. WORK OUT ENEMY ATTACK PATTERNS. USE YOUR NEW ABILITIES. IT'S BASICALLY A PUZZLE GAME.
The game is also fucking HUGE and.. I'm sorry, I really didn't bother doing the whole "make this shit easier for the jam because game jammers are notoriously shit at actually playing video games so lower the difficulty by 90%" but because of that, I've added a video here where you can see the actual.. full extent of how cool the battle system is here:

So if you really struggle, it'd be nice if you clicked through that video a couple of places to see what the game has to offer (e.g. 18 monsters, 8 areas etc.)

The battle system really does make it challenging, but it's also really fun to play and match the proper commands to attack, defend and try to win battles.
The audio also really does help with the mood and the overall feeling of the game's really nice! :D
Congrats! Great job there! :)
Also cool combat system.
When there was more then one player/enemy on the screen I prefer to have a specific button for attack / defend / spell for each character.
And it was hard to see which character the enemies was attacking, might work better on a topdown grid, or with ex 3 different layers.
But cool concept :)
