Don't pay with your life is my 2D platformer created for the Ludum Dare 44.

In search of wealth you have to make your way through the dungeon. Collect coins, fight opponents or try to get past them. On your way you can collect new equipment and discover secret hidden places. But be careful: If you go too far, it will cost you your life.

it works now.
i liked the theme usage. Increasing difficulty on each level using theme is a good idea.

A game with great completeness. But do I have to take damage while fighting the zombies?

Nice solid platformer! Art and music are good :) Pretty polished. Running and jumping animations look a little weird though. I didn't really like fightiong system. Seemed pretty random to me. It wasn't possible to deal with the enemeies without getting hit. My weapon reach was very short and the zombies pertty much hit me as soon as i get into reach. I ended up just hammering the ctrl-button. That way, I was dead by level 3. I love games like these, but they really need a good melee system to work properly.

Nice job nonetheless :)

I am so impressed that you made this by yourself! it has a great feel to it when you play and the atmosphere is cozy. It's great that you keep progressing and it is rewarding to find new weapons/armor. If you continue developing it, I would love to see some puzzles as well! Would be fun if there was a way to outsmart the wizard sometimes so you didn't have to pay life to get deeper into the dungeon as well!

@duke You are right. The fighting system is very basic. But with the aspect in mind, that you may always take damage, there is the incentive to bypass the opponents. But if I contiunue the work on this project, I will improve the fightig system.

@belle Thanks a lot.

The jumping animation is kind wierd, and the fact that you can still move after finding an item without the pick up prompt disapear also, but overall is a nice and fun game.

This game looked nice! Cool level design too. The battling needs a bit of polish but that can be expected. All in all, good work!
