I like the art style and graphics a lot. I thought the trading your hearts for different weapons was a neat idea too. I did struggle a bit with the enemies, because its difficult to tell where they are hitting/where they are going to hit. Overall I liked it.

The art style is really cool. I got say though the voice when you get hit sounds kind erotic.

Really fun game, and the sound it makes when you die is really cool :)

This was pretty great! Loved the gameplay, and had alot of fun playing through it. Congrats on a job well done!

I only recall finding 2 things you might want to fix:
* The enemy attack hitbox stays too long after the enemy attacks. I kept on dodging, then running in to counterattack just to take damage anyway.
* I discovered you can chase the enemies into the wall and glitch them out, allowing you to just hold space and beat them easy.

Just as an extra, I also expected bonus dialog when I got to the final boss without spending any hearts to buy stuff. Music would be nice too :D

Anywho, amazing job. Really liked it!

Pretty good game. I killed the first two enemies before that last wolf guy messed me up really quickly haha. I liked the different feel of the weapons and the leveling up of the enemies.

The visuals were very good.

I did forget what button switches weapons right after I read it. I wish there was an option to see the controls again.

The game fits the theme well. Nice work

@mrpiedpiper Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the game :) We're aware of the hitbox problem, but good find on that AI glitch! I think we were just too tired to finish polishing and we all had work on Monday. I'll look into fixing those up and adding the bonus dialogue or see if anyone else on the team is interested.

@russ-moonbase Haha yea, his attack has a little more range than the others. I found it useful to avoid getting cornered and move at the last second to bait out their attacks, then counter as they run away. You can also run them into the corner as @mrpiedpiper found ;)

The concept artstyle of this is really nice. Don't feel obliged to jump on the pixel art trend - a cohesive, well put together artstyle will beat out pixel art any day, don't feel the need to do the generic "game" thing when you have a really nice graphic style. The style of your concepts would work really well painted and with a low number of strong keyframes.

Regardless, it looks nice and captures the spirit of the concepts, the game was fun too. Good job all round.

Straightforward and clear application of theme, great. The gameplay was frustrating; hard to know when I was going to be hit by the enemy. A story would be nice, too; dialogue presented a quite generic scenario.

I liked this one, the combat was a bit awkward at first though because the hitboxes seem off. I thought the gun was the only usable weapon at first due to the short range of the others, but I ended up using the sword in my winning run because it does lots of damage and has much more range than it looks like. The graphics were cute.

Great job! I really struggled to get past that red guy. It was kind of difficult to tell if I was going to be hit or not. But overall, really well done!

Neat entry - I liked the art a lot, though the combat was hard, and the hitboxes were a bit confusing. The use of the theme was a common one, but it worked well. Fun entry!

First of all: The concept art looks really amazing. I couldn't really get used to the gameplay to be honest. I tried multiple approaches and the shield + sword was the best one for me. Without the shield it felt like it was impossible to dodge the incoming attacks, because the enemies have a very short windup animation.
So it was quite challenging, but still very entertaining gameplay. The concept behind this fits very well into the theme. Nice one!

I really love the art, sound, and the inclusion of the concept art in the main page!
I couldn't find many reasons to get more than the gun and attack from a distance other than to experiment. Seemed like having multiple weapons didn't help me out much.

It was also a little difficult to tell where exactly the hurt/hit boxes were going to be - I died a few times thinking I was safe.

I also really liked that there was some narrative, most games don't have any!

Keep up the great work
