Abraham's Sacrificial Rampage by Gnarly Narwhal

[raw]
made by Gnarly Narwhal for LD 43 (COMPO)

When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Abraham agreed, BUT not because it was god that told him to. Rather because he is secretly a psychopathic maniac. Now you get to run around as Abraham from the Book of Genocide, and live out his dream sacrificing rams and babies at will. But watch out! It's not all fun and games out there. Gods not happy about you destroying his creations, the rams are a little made about you killing them, and the devil can't wait to welcome you to hell. Unfortunately the last half of the Book of Genocide got lost to time. Legend has it though that there lies one remaining copy somewhere in the holy land of Ludum Dare (aka Dev ran out of time to add help menu, so see below for assistance).

Sorry I didn't have time to make a Mac or Linux build :(

Oh and another thing I didn't get to add an in game help menu. So this will have to suffice.

Controls:

A and D - Left and right respectively
W/Space - Jump
S - Drop through platform
J - Dash attack
K - Spammable knife attack

Attacks:

Rams - A giant red ram charges across your screen at blinding speeds completely obliterating all Abrahams in its path. Luckily it has to poke its head out to make sure its in the right place before it charges.
God - God sends in a storm to smite you where you stand. Fortunately God still uses dial up, so his PING is pretty high meaning the lightning strikes the location you were at moments before. This attack also ignores camera position so trying to dodge vertically will result in your death (unless you are at the top or bottom of the level).
Devil - What better way to welcome you to hell than with a toast! And by toast I really mean frying you to a crisp with a red hot fireball. These things are relatively slow moving and not super large, but they come without warning, so just keep your eyes peeled.

Progression: For every 25 points you score the level evolves. There are 5 stages including the starting one.

In addition, as you play everything in the game speeds up.

I had a lot of fun playing this, trying to get a new high score.
I mean technically has a lot replay-ability being an infinite game...

Hahaha, pretty fun use of the theme! Loved the graphics.
The fireballs from below were hard to estimate where and when they came, some indicator would have been great here.

@gilborn Yeah I really wanted to redo the fireballs as they feel pretty unfair, but then 48 hours hit and they were stuck as is. I guess that's why you shouldn't make deals with the devil.

Interesting use of the theme. Loved the art style and the platforming controls felt smooth and responsive.
Incredibly challenging. Enjoyed it :)

As said above, the fireballs are hard to avoid but the game overall is really fun with a nice design (I loved the floating babies). The random spawn avoided a feeling of deja vu wich is nice and kept me feeling as I played for the first time every time I tried to get a better score

Whew, this is challenging! I love the idea, but the randomness around the enemies and the fact that they're all single-hit-kill makes it feel really unforgiving - either a hit point or checkpoint system might be a good idea for a game like this.
