Make a Million by paul59

[raw]
made by paul59 for LD 44 (COMPO)

You're a specialist antique banknote forger. Your life is currency.

Your ambition is to make a million from your forgeries then quit your life of crime. Unfortunately, the police are on your tail and you find yourself moving from place to place to carry on your 'business'.

Your task is simple, copy the watermark on each note before the police arrive. As your notoriety (and bank balance) increases, you will have less time to make each copy.

The better your copy, the more profit you'll make; poor copies will make a loss. When your bank balance hits a million you can retire. If it falls to zero, well, you can retire in a different way!screenshot.png

I was bopping along to that music for some reason lol loved your game so much. I tried filling the whole area with dots bad idea, very fun if frustrating due to time limit which makes it fun.

Haha yeah, you get points deducted for putting ink dots in the wrong place so it's easy to go bust straight away if you just draw randomly :D

I walked away rating this game a lot higher than I first expected. The game is pretty hard to play, physically, but I probably just don't have the eyes for it hahaha, despite that fact there is actually some leeway and what surprised me most of all, lots of strategy. And there is a very intense feeling when you start to hear those sirens go off. It's difficult, but its a nice combination of strategy and execution.

What an interesting concept! I enjoyed playing this game and can now retire to my tropical island in peace.

Oh man, at least I know I won't be forging any notes anytime soon.
Very original concept, and really well done!

Very intense, it gives hearthbeat.

Pretty difficult but not too much, so it's challenging and fun.

I rated pretty well because everything is solid and in place, theme is fitting and the game is enjoyable.

I still didn't understand how this game evaluates my skill, but it was fun :) Very original stuff and addictive melodies!

@daria-toni You score 1,000 for every blob that's set in your copy and the original. You score -1,000 for any that is set in the original but not in the copy. Er, I think I've explained that correctly :D

Oh concept is soo unique, I didn't see something like that in other games in LD!

It's kinda frustrating to be not able to undo something, but I understand the idea.

Music is also nice and catchy. Good job!

(It could be better if we can see the difference between our banknote and the real one :D)

Nice job ;)

Its actually kind iof refreshing to find a more metaphorical take on the theme than a literal one after playing and rating a bunch of entries - this one is certainly unique.

If you wanted to continue with this post Jam, it might eb nice to have some UX tweaks - maybe some marking like photoshop grids to show things like the middle of the imge more easily?

Cool, fun to play, especially with a drawing tablet  Loved your interpretation of the theme. Sound is very good. Graphics are simple but fitting to your idea. Nice job!

Thanks friends. @mrnyarlathotep - yes, I've already made some small changes to the patterns generated to make it more interesting. Not sure about adding hints such as the middle of the grid, might make it too easy but I'll certainly think about it!

I really like your take on the "currency" theme. The music was funky and fresh -- a perfect complement to the grid structure of the game. The end screen music was fun too. Really enjoyable game. Nicely done!

Don't really think that this game has something to do with the ludum dare theme except your saying in the description. But I think that this is really interesting game in innovation department. Though you can often cheet the game by coloring every pixel in the copy. And overall game is far too easy I made it to the million in the first playthrough with no problems.

@lesinvisible "Though you can often cheet the game by coloring every pixel in the copy" That's true, I've modified the logic slightly in my post-compo version. With regard to the theme, I'll go with the majority view.

Interesting concept. It was hard for me to make good copies of the ones with a lot of vertical lines.

Really cool idea, nice game. Like someone before me said though, I could kind of cheat it by just coloring the entire copy to still make a profit. I really like the concept though, well done :)

@sundancekid Yes, as I mentioned above, I've modified the post-compo game to stop cheating and I've added more features. I'll upload a revised version after the voting has finished.

Holy moly, this game is hard!
Loved the Idea and it is a great concept
just found one Issue:
- The menu should work with the mouse too, as the entire games works with it, it's weird that the menu doesn't

Congrats on the game ^^
