Change Log: * 01/05/2019 - *Fixed bug in which player could get infinite points from "glitching"
Untested as I could not replicate issue, but saw the issue occur in early builds.

  • Added Level Selection slider to main screen
Allows user to choose starting level

  • Added continue instructions to pause menu
Added "Press spacebar to resume" to pause menu in game

Made in 24 hours due to PC problems, was almost going to skip but decided to get something done.

Some people think pigs can't fly, Little Pig Jeffers is out to prove them wrong! Armed with a propeller hat and a lot of gumption, Jeffers sets to the skies. As he's flying he notices something, an army belonging to the Circular Saws has invaded Pig City!?

Jeffers may need to use the Magic Bacon from his body to slow the onslaught, but watch out brave Jeffers! Each eaten rasher of the bacon hurts you! The Magic Bacon rasher patrol has headed to the skies to help Jeffers repel the attack, get them while avoiding the Circular Saw troops!

Controls:

W - Move Up

S - Move Down

Space - Pause / Unpause

R - Eat Bacon (Deals 1 damage, but reduces speed by 1)

Cannibalism??? You sir, are a mad man. Fits the theme so can't really blame you. No complaints about the art. Good use of color. I agree with ramping up the difficulty since the learning curve is pretty minimal.

A very fun little game. The graphics and the music was really good. I don't see the use of the theme, but the game was still pretty good, and that is the most important thing for me. So well done.

Very chilled music, nice graphics. The actual game isn't exactly breaking new ground but that doesn't make it any less fun to play. Great work.

I love the pig and sound effects! I thought the pace was a bit slow early on, but once it got hard quick enough. Thanks for sharing!

Very peaceful game and humorous sfx. Great job!
The one thing I wish was that it started ramping up more quickly then had a slower acceleration later into it.

Nice game, maybe not innovative but it's fun and clean.
Sounds were just perfect, maybe it ramped really too much in a short time.

I had fun and it's clearly over the average compo entry.

Thanks for your work!

@paul59 haha, I was going to claim it as my catch-phrase "Oh man, you're so sausage...". Thanks for playing and the feedback.

@memel06 Thanks for the feedback and the play. I ran into some PC issues on the first day which means my original idea got scrapped, just wanted to get something clean out the door :)

1001 points. You can last for quite some time if you use your bacon wisely. I really like the ambient track!

@grllle Nice score! Yeah, if you get some good bacon spawns you can get up there, that's for sure. My max is around 500, didn't get too much time to play it unfortunately.

Fun good looking game, like it. It could be a bit harder in the beginning but then scale more linearly. Nice work for 24h.

This is a clear demonstration on how a simple game concept can be really fun. The pig sprite and its effects are really cute.
Really innovative the idea of lowering difficulty. I laughed so much when I got sausaged, so funny!

Soo cool, I like simple, pixel graphics, but voice-acting and particles are amazing and I love them the most!
I would change speed of the scrolling, because at the first minutes game is kinda boring!
Anyway, Great job!

Props for getting this out in 24 hrs!

Really nice and simple, easy to dive in and play. Like the theme of having to eat yourself to slow down the onslaught.

Only negatives were there are areas that felt unfinished - but yea, 24 hours!!

Thanks and well done :)

Nice relaxing sound track. The graphics are simple, but you've put in some nice little details, such as the parallax scrolling background and Jeffers blinking ever once in a while. Good job! :)

The music is pretty chill! Simple and cool game, only complaint is I opened pause menu and wasn't sure which button to press to continue playing, both options were wrong and I lost my progress :D

Thanks for playing and your feedback! I probably should have tweaked the start to get to the action quicker.

@sode Thanks for playing, what was the glitch that allowed you to get infinite score? I think there may be issues with the floats and player inputs for movement and the player gets out of alignment with the stage, but made some hacky tweaks and couldn't replicate.
I also can't replicate the information screen, did that happen before or after the glitch?

@barrier Thanks for playing and the feedback, really sorry about that! I had instructions that I deleted to unpause (Space to unpause) but replaced it last minute on like 3hrs of sleep and forgot to re-add it back in.

@cnatalo Thanks for playing. That is an awesome idea, I didn't even think about that! Will probably have a tinker to get that implemented.

As a huge piggies fun I had to play this. Glad that you didi it, no matter the difficulties! Very playable and fun. I love his spinning hat, the sound effects and the great visual feedback you get when you are hit ot eat bacon. Only thing I would add: a bit of variation in the backround. Well done!

This is the story of a pig, a story of a pig who lost his friends. So, he went on a mission to find them, but found them too late... he only found pieces of them in sky. The UI scaling needs a fix, and the pig needs some tears every time he picks up bacon to show his absolute grief. ;) Great game! :)

@lillybyte Thanks for the feedback! UI scaling is something I hate doing (Build, upload, check, rinse, repeat) but yeah, will be looking into that... in the meantime, I've just removed the option to fullscreen :p
The tears would be amazing, thanks for the tip!

OHHHHH I get it, the pig's hat is whats letting him fly. I was wondering what was going on.

Anyways, very simple game. Music was relaxing, and the game got pretty hectic as you went on. Not much depth, but can be a good little time killer if you're idling or something. Really cute little pig art though! :)

Thanks for letting me play this on stream :D For quite a simple "lane based" infinite runner, this really felt good and had me wanting to try again. There's something about these games that make me panic when it starts going fast (in a good way), and it feels great when I can avoid everything when its going fast. But an interesting concept of choosing to sacrifice life early to prevent the potential chain of saws that you're about to hit... it's expecting the player to be sensible but I'm sure most just keep trying to handle the speed. I'm wondering if an extra mechanic would be needed to stop sensible play of (for example) never allowing yourself to go above level 10? Maybe you run out of bacon to collect as it is.

Very simple to understand and to play. The level which increase is maybe a little bit fast, but it's really cool !
Graphics and animations are very fun too !
And the background music fit perfectly.

@honest-dan The pleasure was mine. Thanks for playing and the tip, I think that's a good idea. I'll probably work on it a bit more and release a post-jam incarnation with all the tips and feedback.

@quorusa Thanks for playing, yeah I will need to tweak the difficulty a bit as it has been a common theme in the comments. Thanks for the kind words and feedback!

To me it's a relly lousy execution of ludum dare's theme cos it's just an average run of the mill side-scroller. And even isn't a good one side-scroller. It is far too easy because core mechanic of reducing game speed at the cost of one health point isn't optimised.

A great, fun little game. I really like the dynamic of the game ramping up difficulty and speed and you being able to reduce it but at a cost. The little piggy was adorable. A great example of a simple game that is really well implemented and extremely fun to play.
My one very small little criticism would be that it would be nice if the obstacles were something like birds, kites, planes etc as the setting is among the clouds. But that doesn't take away from the game's charms :)

@rsim Thanks for playing and the feedback. I couldn't replicate the issue, it's a random spawn rate for bacon (~1/30). I'll continue looking to see if I can find it.

@candlesan Thanks for playing and the feedback, congrats on the score!

@beastiebeastie Thanks for playing! Yeah, I would have liked to add some other obstacles / powerups etc. but time was definitely the biggest factor this LD. Appreciate the feedback :)

@quadape Thanks for playing and the compliment, I was pretty self conscious about my voice for sure.

Solid and fun game that made me laugh quite a bit! I like the use of the theme to decrease the difficulty. Eventually buzzsaws started flying too fast for me to dodge, but it was cool to try and manage my current level until that point.
