Bounty by Gurvan
You are the captain of a pirate ship. Your crew is losing his trust in you day after day. To prove them that you are a good captain, you must destroy other ship and loot islands !
The objective is to explore procedurally generated sea to find a island with a treasure on it , and to bring the treasure to the harbor, before going to the next sea. You can use the compass to help you.
The yellow bar represent your crew trust, and the red bar represent the health of the ship. You loose trust over time and when a boat shoot you. You gain trust by killing ennemy ship and looting island.
You gain money by looting island. At the end of each sea, you go to a shop where you can buy items and upgrade for your ship.
You must go the farthest possible.
The sound and the music is not really good, but i tried my best.
This is my first game ever, feedback is appreciated !

Controls
Use W to move forward
Use S to move backward
Use A to rotate to the left
Use D to rotate to the right
Use the left arrow to shoot on the left of your boat
Use the right arrow to shoot on the right of your boat
Things i want to add in post compo (Don't know if it county as bug fixed or features...)
- There is not a lot of options in the options menu
- The island sometimes spawn with half of it on the ground.
- The border are just squares, it don't look really good.
- There is not a lot of items in the shop
- Introduction
- Tutorial
- Multiplayer?
Changelog of bug fixed
- The sea and the next difficulty on the shop is not displayed correctly.
- One cannon on the boat is not shooting (Only 5 "bullet" for 6 cannon)
- You can get out of the map
- You turn really fast (Used to scale with framerate)
- The other ship don't give money and not enough morale when killed, so you don't really need to kill them

- There are a lot of seems in the sprites. Did you turn off Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Textures in the Quality settings?
- The ship is turning waaaay to quickly. I suspect this has something to do with the framerate, as I don't think you meant it to be that fast. Maybe you forgot to multiply the rotation by Time.deltaTime or something.
- The fonts are pretty bad to be honest. There's also a few grammatical errors in your texts, but it's really not that bad.
- The gameplay itself is really cool. Not sure if this fits the theme very well, but the idea is good and it was fun for a few minutes.
Great job overall!
My first impression, however, was that the ship turns way too quickly and ends up spinning in circles. I was able to swim onto the land and get outside of the map bounds, which caused the ship to spin even more when turning. The island bounds were a little bit too large and blocky, and the 'cannonplay' was difficult and didn't seem necessary, so after trying for a bit I just ignored the other ships. The sailing sound effect sounded like running your hand in a bathtub, which I thought was funny.
The graphics fit together well and were acceptable overall.
Nice game, the ship definitely turns too fast, but I liked the idea and overall execution.
- I didn't know how to attack with the mouse, may have been a bug
- There's literally no collision, I was able to get out of bounds by literally just sailing out of bounds
- The game over screen is exceptionally laggy for no apparent reason, maybe a memory leak?
Other than that, it's a cool idea! Not bad for your first Ludum Dare.
People experience games through their mechanics, most of all controls. Try and make sure your controls are TIGHT.
- I kept crashing into islands and losing hp, which felt dissapointing. It'll probably be a conscious decision on your part, but that's something I didn't enjoy, since I saw islands as safe haven and approching them unharmed was difficult.
- I'd add labels to the hp and trust bars, just so that new players who haven't read the description (I know they should, but people do) know what they are about.
Now, I liked it, great job!
Thank you for making this!
The game difficulty varied a lot, at one point I got attacked by 5 enemy ships at the same time and that was a bit hard.
Could need smaller hitboxed between the island and the boat, the island hurt my ship a lot...
If you add new features remember to keep the links to the version you submitted for the combo.
"If you start changing too many things, consider making a Post Event version of the game instead. We still need your Compo/Jam version here (for playing and rating), but for the rest of the world you can show your best."

- The original , with bugs as it came out
- The fixed, wich is the original with fixed bugs
- The post-jam wich is the fixed with new features, items,...
I didn't like the Crew Respect (or whatever it's called, I forget) mechanic. It felt tacked on and unnecessary (yeah, yeah, you need it for the theme. I still don't like it.) Every time I got into a firefight, the Respect meter would shoot down to zero after only a few shots, and I feel like combat would be a lot more fun if I could last longer in it. Speaking of which, health doesn't matter in this game; during combat, respect drains WAY faster than health does, so you can never die from lack of health (at least in my experience. I may be playing the game wrong). The fact that respect drains constantly means that I can't happily explore the seas at my own pace (my pace is slow) because I'm constantly worrying about doing something to keep my respect up. In short, I feel the game would be vastly improved by removing the respect mechanic.
It was very unclear what most of the upgrades did. Short descriptions for each of them would let me make much better purchasing decisions.
> I am french
You english is very good for learning it as a second language. Je souhaite je parle francais bon a toi parle anglais!
> i am 14 years old
Good on you for making games now. I just turned 17 and only started a month ago, and I strongly regret not doing it earlier.
> this is my first jam and my first finished game ever
wow- although this game is good when judged impartially, it is phenomenal for a first finished game, and one made in 48 hours no less! Good work :)
The mechanics are simple, and work quite well. I found it a bit difficult to aim the cannons, since the direction is relative to the direction you are facing.
Exploring the seas was interesting, and the upgrade system was a nice touch. Perhaps the in-game text could have explained the effect of the different upgrades?
It was an impressive first game, especially for a compo game! Nice work!
