The Long Walk by kromeboy

Battle Royale Walking Simulator inspired by the Stephen King Book by the same name.
It's my first attempt to make a 3D game and is also the first game that I have actually made in 48 hours!
This game has a little "user-generated" feature: it's not in real time, so don't expect to see your "content" right after you have finished playing :-)
Made with:
- Unity
- Magicavoxel
- Audio from freesound.org
- Character animation from Mixamo
Thank you for playing!
Version History
- The windows exe is the original Compo submission
- The web version had an issue retrieving data from the server and was fixed 25/4/2018, some minor changes in pacing and camera height.

Nicely done!
It's difficult to rate because as a "game" there's not much going on, but it was a hell of an interactive experience.
Well done!
The tone was very serious, and I felt that if you put in names of real gun victims this little game could be a conversation starter about gun violence. I'm not sure why you selected the theme you did, but it felt like it had deep meaning. I didn't feel comfortable slowly marching forward as others collapsed around me and gun shots echoed in my ears.
You did a great job setting the mood, and making a simple but effective game.
I don't know about using real kids names: in the end is still just an experiment and a tribute to a great (and disturbing) book that is a metaphor for the futility of the war; but the user-generated part could twist it in any direction
It would be nice if you could get shot even if you walk constantly (that's a weird thing to wish for).
About the user generated part, nice direction for content, though it tends to lean towards humour way more often than not, almost unrelated to the context. But it helps in case of this game cause it works well with the theme. I wonder if there's any effective way to make players be serious while playing a game x).
On the UGC part yes, it tends to be the humorous side, but I retain creative control: also because the system is not automatic but is a combination of a Google Form of which results I manually copy on my server :-)
