Cebe by Sapazu

[raw]
made by Sapazu for LD 41 (JAM)

You want to play chess but don't have time to learn rules and strategies? Then this is right game for you. Cebe combines chess with beat em up and the result is chaotic mess.

Instructions: Goal is to clear as many waves of enemies as you can. You can kill enemies by moving to where they are. Move with arrow keys or WASD

I had very limited time to make this game because I had work to do on both saturday and monday, so there may be bugs I'm not aware of.

good game, i loved it. I spected for a turned game but i can move freely after enemy moves. See if is a bug or proposeful. contrats for the game. Please rate my game too.

Nice idea but very few levels... Some random generator of pieces will help you with that. The art was pretty good, but the sounds kind of annoying. Also an animation or some kind of hint for when pieces are going to move could improve the experience. Keep coding!

Very, very good game!

The levels were a bit random in difficulty after the first two, but still great fun. I would make it a little more forgiving by adding lives :-) and/or powerups. I'd also make the fast pieces (rook, queen, bishop) skip some turns, also to make it easier (you could make them skip less turns as the score goes up). Yeah, my reflexes aren't very good :-) - but your game still feels great.

I just love the minimalism of the game and how much fun it is!

@mbrezu I made almost the whole game in one go, in span of 30 hours because studies and work, so I was reeeeally tired when I made those levels :P Thanks for your development ideas :)

@driedwatermelon @folex70 @le-slo Thank you! :) Game has about 20 levels, but because they load randomly depending on your score it is possible that it looped through same levels.

What a cool idea, and a lot harder than I expected. Good take on the theme in this. Great job!

Good game, fun, challenging and original.

The game could be better if the enemies moved in rhythm with the music.

You should post screenshots to have more play and vote.

I like this game ! But you don't highlight the good part with the "first level restart" on each death. The game become fun and challenging with multiples enemies. Let the player play the fun parts !
Good work !

I really like this idea. It's fun!

My only complaint would just be the odd timing of pieces and when it counts for you or against you. I'm not sure how to polish that, but sometimes the difference between winning and losing is microscopic in terms of timing.

I love the idea though and it'd be cool to see where it could go.

@TomLee @Utho @loudrasiel @davidsheadgames and everybody else, thank you so much! <3 I will play all of your games tonight :) I have also been thinking that I will start working on new game that will fix most of the issues you have found and that will be more polished
