Killbi by HEXIEZ123

[raw]
made by HEXIEZ123 for LD 44 (COMPO)

This game is meant to be played with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The map is randomly generated each time a new game starts, so if parts of a level gets compeletly cut off(which is unlikely, you should restart the game).

You are meant to be killing as many enemies as you can. How you do it is completly up to you. Every enemy has a Normal, Suspicious, and Alerted state. Some enemies are terrirtorial and will not stop chasing you until you leave their region or are killed. Others wonder everywhere and lets you go with time. The only way to receive health is by "sucking" your enemies in a style totally not inspired by some Pink blob made by Nintendo.

HOW TO PLAY: There are two weapons, A sword and a gun. You can switch between them by pressing "Q". Holding Left Click with the sword will cause it to Swing back and forth while clicking right click will cause you to do a powerful jab. The gun's bullets can bounce and will not be noticed by surronding enemies, making it a very good tool for silent takedowns, it is not advised you run and gun because the gun has a mildly high cooldown time. Both weapons will only drop coins when killing an enemy

By pressing "E", Killbi will start to do a sucking motion, pulling every enemy in the cone towards him. By letting of of "E", Killbi chops down and kills only one enemy wthin choping range. This awards Killbi with the same amount of health the enemy had.

You can go into the "Buy" menu by pressing "B", to exit out of it you just press "esc". Inside you can buy upgrades, abilities, and one-use powerups with your health and coins. To do spoil the fun, you can go and test out what each upgrade does for yourself!

The player character looks awesome! The movement and aiming feel good. The camera could be a bit farther back. Why not focus more on just 1 mechanic? Like instead of the sucking, the sword and the gun, just pick one of those and polish it more.

Fun collection of mechanics, I appreciate all the cool ideas that went into this. I do agree with the previous comment that it would have been beneficial to focus on one or two mechanics, with such a limited amount of development time. For example, bouncing bullets seems awesome, but I never saw a real use for it... you could build a game all around that.

The way the character moved was so fluid and fun! Very interesting enemies and system. Well Done!

Sucking is too easy to you. You can simply press E a short time and eat whatever is in front of you.

Addtionally, the bomb is thrown with 3 and not with 1 as the UI suggests :)

@killedbyapixel You are absolutly correct, I initially wanted some stealth in the game but decided to focus on the sucking because that was fit the theme more. As a result I didn't have enough time to polish them.

@manuel-rauber Opps, I only had about 1 hour left when I made the all the UI and menus, I very much just rushed through it all.

I like many aspects of the game : the sucking mechanic (and the visual effect you did for that ), the movements are fluid (as @egawag said), the map is huge, the sounds and many other things... I find the camera upgrade an excellent idea. It looks like you planned for an ambitious compo. Maybe you could have polished some basic aspects of the game before going for the Abilities or the Power-ups. I would have made the sucking a weapon like the sword or the laser gun but less less powerful. Then the player could switch between sucking or a weapon which avoids having an extra key on the keyboard to switch to while moving.
Great work!

If you made the game to be played at 16:10, you can limit that resolution in Unity. I liked the idea of sucking out enemies. Enemies do not seem to care much about you. The game is ok but I think it would be more interesting to have some objective and not only survive as much as possible.

This is really cool. After I figured out the mechanics (E = health, shoot = coins) the game was pretty cool. Really needs some rockin' music. Nice job!
